Days of Our Lives has gone through many cast changes in the last couple of years, including casting surprises and a change of writers. The biggest news items that affected the lives of the staff as well as the fans were the deaths of Bill Hayes, who played Doug Williams, and Drake Hogestyn, who played the iconic hero, John Black. But now there’s a new change for the better, and Deidre Hall (Marlena) spoke out about how wonderful it is.
She led the Days of our Lives celebration
Days of Our Lives’ Deidre Hall eagerly wrote on Instagram, “I’m sure you’ve heard the great news by now. It was the loveliest of days when Ken announced the pickup of not one, but TWO years with Peacock! Congratulations to everyone and a special welcome to Renee Villafan, Vice President of Production & Soaps at Sony Pictures Television! @peacock @sonypicturestv @dayspeacock.” She also attached some snaps to the post, the first of which was her with executive producer Ken Corday.
Next was the two of them again, this time joined by Susan Seaforth Hayes, who plays Julie Williams. And the last photo was of Hall with Greg Rikaart, who plays the hilarious Leo Stark, and Villafan. Co-star Lucas Adams, who portrays Tripp Johnson but hasn’t been seen on the show for a while, chimed in with several applause emojis. Robert Scott Wilson (Alex) also responded with the emojis depicting clapping, an hourglass, and a heart. Hall hilariously responded, “@robertscottwilson Use your words, hunny.”
The viewers cheered the renewal

Across the TV dial, The Young and the Restless’ Tracey Bregman (Lauren) commented, “Congrats!!” and added a heart emoji. @mike.mcdowell.756 was among many fans who were happy for the renewal, but still dismayed that Days of Our Lives is no longer on the NBC network, just the Peacock streaming app. They wrote, “Two more years on Peacock is a plus, and kudos for that. That said, I look at the current 1:00PM schedule on the local NBC affiliate and ask myself, ‘What the heck is NBC thinking?’ Put another way, when DAYS made its debut, Lyndon Johnson was president, the Byrds had a hit with Turn, Turn, Turn, and Walt Disney was still living. Now, if that's not staying power, I don't know what is!”
Another fan, @synergetic1, who’s still disgruntled at the show’s move to streaming, demanded, “AWESOME! Now put it on NBC again, also!!!!” Among the fan congratulatory remarks, several explained how the show is a part of their daily lives, with @phyllisstrongoli writing, “Yay. You all on the show help me relax from work every day when I arrive home. Been watching since 1997.” And @jhdominic4 lovingly commented, “Drake would be proud…”
Days of Our Lives can be found on the Peacock streaming app.
