DAYS actress returns to Salem in Emmy-winning role

Days of our Lives' Tamara Braun is heading back to the role that won her Emmy gold.

Hold onto your hats, Days of our Lives fans: Tamara Braun (Ava Vitali) is the latest fan favorite heading back to Days of our Lives.

TV Insider reports that the actress, who won an Emmy in 2009 for her role as Ava Vitali, has already begun shooting and will hit the air on Wednesday, December 9.

Braun -- who also played All My Children's Reese Williams and General Hospital's Carly, and had a brief stint as DAYS' Taylor Walker -- joins a slew of recently announced returning actors that includes Stephen Nichols (Steve Johnson), Peter Reckell (Bo Brady), Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady), Jason Cook (Shawn Brady), and Martha Madison (Belle Black).

As fans may recall, Ava was last seen skipping town after it became clear she'd probably go down for tampering with a plane that crashed and killed three people, including Shawn Brady Sr. (Frank Parker). But that's not all the trouble she caused: Ava took a liking to John (Drake Hogestyn) while he was separated from Marlena (Deidre Hall), and she also befriended Nicole (Arianne Zucker), with whom she shared plenty of martinis. All three combined mean Salem is in for loads of trouble once the character returns!

It will still be awhile before Braun pops up on-screen -- December 9. But Braun was so excited about her return, that she took to Twitter to share a video with fans. Check it out below.
