Daniel Cosgrove heading back to DAYS, but will it be as Aiden?

Days of our Lives' Daniel Cosgrove (ex-Aiden Jennings) is slated to make a return to Salem this spring, but rumor is he might not be stepping into his former alter ego's shoes.

Heads up, Days of our Lives fans: The rumor that Daniel Cosgrove (ex-Aiden Jennings; ex-Scott Chandler, All My Children; ex-Chris Hughes, As the World Turns; ex-Bill Lewis, Guiding Light) will soon be returning to the NBC soap is true. But will he be resuming his former role as Hope's ex, Aiden Jennings -- or someone else?

Rumors about the actor's possible return first started swirling after a soap magazine's television ad teased the possibility. And the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest confirms the news: Cosgrove is already back filming at the DAYS set and will re-air in late spring.

While many fans are overjoyed to have the fan favorite actor back on the canvas, many questions remain. How long will Cosgrove be back in Salem? Will he be taking on a brand new character? Will he be playing the ghost of Aiden, who was presumed dead back in November? Or will Aiden somehow be found alive, possibly due to shenanigans by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis), who created a look-alike version of the character last year?

Inquiring minds want to know, but it seems the soap is keeping tight-lipped... for now!

What do you think about Cosgrove returning to DAYS? Do you hope Aiden is found alive? Or would you rather see the actor take on a whole new character?
