Airdate set for Christie Clark and Austin Peck's DAYS return; is Alison Sweeney next?

Days of our Lives' Christie Clark (Carrie Brady) and Austin Peck (Austin Reed) will be back in Salem before you know it, and Sami (Alison Sweeney) may not be far behind.

Days of our Lives fans have been on pins and needles waiting for Christie Clark (Carrie) and Austin Peck's (Austin) big arrival in Salem since news of the pair's return was first announced last September. And it looks like the mega popular stars are dropping back onto the canvas earlier than many expected.

Glamour reports that Carrie and Austin make their grand return on Wednesday, January 11, in scenes that involve Carrie coming to her mom, Anna's (Leann Hunley), rescue after Anna attempts to make Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) pay for all he did to her and Tony (Thaao Penghlis). The storyline is serious female empowerment, and Clark is thrilled DAYS asked her back to play it.

"I love that Carrie has turned into the woman that she is," Clark shares. "She's a high-flying lawyer that oddly enough can practice law in all different countries, I just found out. [Laughs] That's really spectacular! She's got her shit together considering she should have some mommy issues, so I'm just proud of who she's become... to have Carrie be the strong, clever, independent woman that could wrap things up and take care of her family and get a result is huge."

Clark is only back for "six or seven episodes," but the actress shares it would make sense for Carrie to return long term. After all, she and Austin have a baby now ("It's a little boy, and you'll have to tune in to find out his name!" Clark exclaims), and there's a definite place on the canvas for the pair.

"I think there's a huge chance [they'll return with the baby]," the actress teases. "They've never been in Salem without Sami [Alison Sweeney], and it's a different thing and it would be exciting to experience that. I have a feeling that if Austin and Carrie were in Salem, Sami would not be far behind. I don't think she could help herself with getting back to Salem. There's so much to tell as far as [Austin's] mother issues, Carrie's mother issues. It would be so much fun to explore so many different elements of these characters and maybe have a second child, and just dealing with being a lawyer, a mother. And life!"
