The soap opera community has suffered many losses over the course of 2016, and the year has taken someone nearest and dearest to Days of our Lives actor Drake Hogestyn (John Black) -- his mom, Shug.
The veteran daytime actor took to Twitter to share the tragic news, writing, "We've all lost some great ones lately... I just lost the greatest. Love you Mom."
Hogestyn also posted a stunning photo of his mother along with his public farewell, which has garnered an outpouring of heartfelt responses from friends and fans.

This season has undoubtedly been a tough one for the actor, who also shared a farewell message for his late DAYS costar Joseph Mascolo (Stefano DiMera) and a photo of himself with The Brady Bunch star Florence Henderson upon her death earlier this year.
