Exec says Days of our Lives time jump is impetus for even MORE major changes to Salem

The exciting time jump that happened on today's episode of Days of our Lives is, according to the show's executive producer Ken Corday, "a catalyst for many more [changes] to follow."

Forget Narnia, Wonderland, Hogwarts, and Dictionopolis. The real exciting place to be these days is Days of our Lives' Salem, which just embarked on a never-been-done-before-in-daytime time jump of one year. Everything -- and we mean everything -- is completely bonkers when compared to just one week ago, and it turns out that the fast-forward in time is just the beginning of other major changes set to hit the NBC soap opera.

"This is a great way to reset things in Salem," executive producer Ken Corday tells TV Insider of the time jump that he says will result in some cast upheaval. "It will be a catalyst for many more [changes] to follow."

Some of those changes remain a surprise for viewers who tune in to watch, while others have been revealed as part of the promotion for the time jump storyline. The latter includes the return of Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux), Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera), and Stephen Nichols (Steve "Patch" Johnson), as well as more screen time for Hattie -- the character Diedre Hall sometimes plays in addition to Marlena Evans.

As fans are probably already guessing, the time jump will see many Salem couples coming together and other splitting apart -- but Marlena and her longtime love, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), will remain solid. Previews Hall, "You can't get in between them...but somebody tries!"

Overall, fans are in for a wild ride in the weeks to come. And the best part, according to Hall, is that the new storylines will reunite the fans.

"People will call their friends," she says, to ask the question, "Did you see what happened?"
