Days of our Lives fans have been hoping and praying for the show to bring E.J. DiMera back to Salem since the character was revealed to be alive in 2018. The big moment fans have been waiting for may finally be on the horizon. The only hiccup: it won't be previous portrayer James Scott stepping back into the role. The latest news from someone in the know is that the NBC soap opera has chosen to recast the character.
As Soap Central previously reported, Scott is adamant that he has forever quit Hollywood and will "never, never, never" go back to DAYS, where he played E.J. from 2006 to 2014. That left the series with two options: either leave E.J. out of the fold for good or find somebody else to play Stefano's son. They chose the latter, according to DAYS star Thaao Penghlis (Andre DiMera/Tony DiMera).
Penghlis recently guest-starred on an episode of the podcast Mission: Impodible -- A Mission: Impossible TV Podcast, where he revealed, "I go back to DAYS on the 8th, and that's going to be interesting because I know they're bringing a recast of E.J. So, I have a feeling I'm going to be doing work with the brother of old."
There's no news yet as to who DAYS has chosen to play the role of E.J., but some are speculating that it might be Australian actor Daniel Goddard, who rose to daytime fame during his twelve-year run as Cane Ashby on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless. As fans may recall, "news" broke near the New Year's holiday that Goddard had taken on the role of Sami's long-lost love, but it turned out to be a big misunderstanding. Could this time prove to be the real deal, with Goddard taking over the role of E.J.? Keep checking back to Soap Central for updates as they come.
