Another young soap star has landed a role in Monsters: The Erik and Kyle Menendez Story on Netflix

Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story is shaping up to be a haven for young soap actors. First, General Hospital Emmy winner Nicholas Alexander Chavez was cast in a lead role playing Lyle Menendez. Now comes word that Tanner Stine, who played Joey Johnson on Days of our Lives, has been cast as a Menendez brother friend.

According to Michael Fairman TV, Stine will portray Perry Berman, Lyle and his brother Erik's friend and tennis coach who they spoke with not long before the brutal murder of their parents. The Menendez brothers were found guilty of killing their parents, Jose and Kitty, in 1996. During their trial, Lyle and Erik blamed the murders on years of abuse at the hands of their father.

Stine made his soap debut on Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem in 2022 and brought the character to the main show later that year. Joey is the only son of Steve and Kayla Johnson and is currently living in Seattle after a long stint in prison for killing Ava Vitali, who it turned out wasn't dead, after all.

Monsters began filming late last year after the SAG acting strike and WGA writing strike ended. Chavez took a leave of absence from his GH role, and his character, Spencer Cassadine, was presumed dead. There is no official word on whether the actor will return after filming ends.
