The year in review
It's really sad to see how quickly both Sami and Lucas have forgotten the love they shared, not to mention how they have both regressed to behaviors of ten years ago.
Rachel Melvin

Two Scoops auditions
Zack's death is just a horrible accident that touches all of us, because we know that it could happen to us, and it isn't some farfetched circumstance.
Kristian Alfonso
January 16, 2006
Break my heart
Zack's death has stirred up a lot of emotions, thanks in no small part to Kristian Alfonso's amazing performance as Hope Brady.
Lauren Koslow
January 23, 2006
Crazy love
Kate isn't even a snake in the grass. She is a snake slithering along the hospital linoleum and trying to wrap herself around Shawn and Mimi.
Alison Sweeney
January 30, 2006
Scheming Sami and lying Lucas
Instead of being happy together, Sami and Lucas have thrown away their love like it was yesterday's news and have now focused their energies on snagging each other's siblings.
John Aniston

Soaps used to matter
There was not a new column this week, so instead, please enjoy a look back at what was happening in Salem one year ago!
Peter Reckell
February 13, 2006
Sweeps!
The February Sweeps period has been a hit for Days of our Lives! For the first time in a long time, Days has delivered a stellar couple of weeks.
James Reynolds
February 20, 2006
Gimme three steps
Lexie is feeling rejected, and with Tek constantly at her about how much he loves her and how Abe doesn't deserve her, she's going to do something stupid and Abe is going to catch her.
Kristian Alfonso
February 27, 2006
The sky has fallen
Due to the most unfortunate set of circumstances, Bo and Hope have split up. Hope kicked Bo out of the house after discovering that he lied to her about the identity of Zack's killer.
Deidre Hall
March 6, 2006
Leaving on a jet plane
Stefano would never hurt Marlena. He would kidnap her twice a year, but he never actually hurt her. He was in obsessive, but not violent, love with her.
Bryan Dattilo
March 13, 2006
Technical difficulties
Why does everybody and their brother have to ask Sami and Lucas if there is any chance that they will get back together?
Renee Jones
March 20, 2006
If I can't have you
Lexie managed to let herself be talked into some afternoon delight with Tek in the park, and there was our trusty Sami, hiding in the bushes. Well, let the blackmail begin!
Jason Cook
March 27, 2006
The wedding has left the building
Shawn and Mimi have done it! They made it to their wedding and have finally become husband and wife. It only took forever and a whole day, but the deed is done.
Deidre Hall
April 3, 2006
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Marlena should sue the holy crap out of Lexie. First for bringing Alex into the picture in the first place, and secondly for sedating Marlena after she specifically said she didn't want it.
Melissa Reeves
April 10, 2006
What will they think of next?
Due to illness, our columnist was not able to provide a column this week. In place of a new column, please enjoy an oldie but goodie from this week in 2005.
Rachel Melvin
April 17, 2006
Crazy love
The writers have done a wonderful job of punishing the wicked this past week. Chelsea was dropped down a sewer, and now they seem to be shaping up to give Lexie a medical scare.
Julie Pinson
April 24, 2006
Buckle your seatbelts
Days has lapsed in to some kind of twilight zone where the dialogue is repeated endlessly and the same scenarios are playing out for all the people on the show.
Renee Jones
May 1, 2006
Come away with me
Exactly how stupid was it of Lexie to even consider dropping the bomb on Abe that she is doing it with his friend behind his back, in front of a group of like ten people?
Peter Reckell
May 8, 2006
What if...
Where would the show, and the storylines, be if Days of our Lives had a head writer with a little imagination?
Peggy McCay
May 15, 2006
Split-screen sadness
It would be nice to show more of the actors who have been on the show for 20 or 25 years, like Caroline, instead of watching Carrie waffle again for the billionth time.
Peter Reckell
May 22, 2006
Wake me up when something happens
This sweeps period can be summed up in one word: MIND-NUMBING. Where is the excitement? The drama? The pay-offs? The resolutions?
Deidre Hall
May 29, 2006
God, lies, and falling off cliffs
This past week, Alex propelled himself off of a cliff, but we all know that in the wonderful world of soaps, if there is no body, the person is most likely alive.
James Scott
June 5, 2006
Have our prayers been answered?
The current state of Days of our Lives sucks, and the fans have been screaming for relief. Perhaps in response to those complaints, James E. Reilly is on his way out as head writer.
Rachel Melvin
June 12, 2006
Breakin' the law
Hope wants revenge so bad she can just about taste Chelsea's blood. Not that she's wrong; she should want Chelsea's selfish, evil, spoiled butt strung from the nearest flagpole.
Mary Beth Evans
June 19, 2006
Light at the end of the tunnel
The fact that the character of Steve Johnson has also returned to Days of our Lives makes Kayla's return all the sweeter.
James Reynolds
June 26, 2006
Wanted, dead or alive
This past week, Abe took the bait of the mysterious gloved hand and caught Lexie and Officer Sex-U-Up in the act. Abe turned on the lights and it was full-tilt-boogie madness.
Stephen Nichols
July 3, 2006
Hope is pregnant
Two thumbs up to the writers for having Steve and Jack reveal themselves to everyone in Salem this past week, instead of dragging the story out for days/weeks/months.
Darin Brooks
July 10, 2006
Happy (belated) Fourth!
Even though Steve doesn't really remember a thing except for those little itty bitty flashes, he and Kayla are still one of the most interesting things on the show in a long time.
Lauren Koslow
July 17, 2006
Nice to meet ya, Stephanie!
There has to be some reason that E.J. is making nice with Kate. Is he trying to exact some revenge on Sami's behalf, or is there another reason?
Christie Clark
July 24, 2006
Baby switches, race cars, and fire!
Carrie and Lucas almost barbequed themselves, but it's a good thing Austin watches everything they do like a hawk so he, Sami, and E.J. could get them out just in the nick of time.
Jason Cook
July 31, 2006
Jealousy
What's the saying, two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead? Five people is a slip begging to happen.
Bryan Dattilo
August 7, 2006
You shouldn't have been a-kissin'
Carrie and Austin are two people who really just don't care and want to get caught. Otherwise, why would they be going at it on the roof of the apartment building where anyone could catch them?
Mary Beth Evans
August 14, 2006
Summertime
The best part about Days right now is Patch and Kayla. They are so fabulous together that it takes away the pain of all the other storylines.
Kristian Alfonso
August 21, 2006
What's goin' on?
Hope is an all or nothing kind of person, which is not usually a bad trait, but she has always had a problem with Bo loving anyone but her and her children.
Jason Cook
August 28, 2006
The truth is revealed?
The writers came up with an interesting way to reveal Claire's paternity. Who could have guessed that everyone's first reaction would be skepticism? It seems almost...normal.
Alison Sweeney
September 4, 2006
Going to the chapel...or not
Everyone that knew Sami's wedding was going to come crashing down in a ball of flame and taffeta, raise your hands.
Martha Madison
September 11, 2006
Missing, caught, and arrested
It was an extremely exciting week in Salem, featuring some of the best dialogue that the show has seen in a long time.
Julie Pinson
September 18, 2006
D.I.V.O.R.C.E.
This past week, Billie finally came clean to Hope about her setting it up so Hope would find Bo in bed with Billie. That was classic soap, and it was a nice, unexpected, pleasant surprise.
Matthew Ashford
September 25, 2006
Farewell
Over the next couple of months, expect to lose a few characters and/or the actors that portray them. Matt Ashford, Melissa Reeves, and Jason Cook made their departure this past week.
Brandon Beemer
October 2, 2006
Me again!
Brandon Beemer made his debut as Shawn this past week, and he seems to have slipped effortlessly in to the role.
Martha Madison
October 9, 2006
Dropped a bomb
Shawn finally knows that Mimi knew that Claire was his before they were married, and that she has been keeping it a secret since the beginning of the year. Needless to say, Shawn was upset.
John Aniston
October 16, 2006
Trippin' the fight fantastic
Shawn must have eighteen lives. He drives through walls and windows with the greatest of ease and manages to not kill himself.
Stephen Nichols
October 23, 2006
Hogan Sheffer, you're my hero
Wow! What an amazing two weeks it has been since Hogan Sheffer fully took over the reins at Days of our Lives!
Christie Clark
October 30, 2006
Auf Wiedersen, Austin and Carrie!
It was another fabulous, well-written week on our friendly neighborhood soap.
Mary Beth Evans
November 6, 2006
Technical difficulties
Is Steve going to have to carry Hope's list of memories around in his pocket like a cheat sheet in order to keep Kayla believing that he has his memory back?
Rachel Melvin
November 13, 2006
It's the Fallonator!
How refreshing it was to see Nick, a guy who has a college degree, was kind-hearted enough to help Chelsea even though she was a total snot to him, and embraces his inner and outer geek.
John Aniston
November 20, 2006
Sweeps!
Finally, a sweeps month that we can confidently say actually felt like a sweeps month! It's about time.
Darin Brooks
November 27, 2006
Happy (super uncomfortable) Thanksgiving!
It was really kind of Max to invite Mimi to go to Thanksgiving with him, but maybe a little bit foolish considering the state of things between Mimi and Bo and Hope.
Peter Reckell
December 4, 2006
Modern forensics
Unfortunately, the Days writing team doesn't seem to consider what their audience knows about real police procedure. Sure, it's a soap, but can't we have something that resembles reality?
Drake Hogestyn
December 11, 2006
It's about freakin' time
This past week, John and Marlena were married in a lovely outdoor ceremony in Italy. It was a treat to see this supercouple finally make it official again.
Brandon Beemer
December 18, 2006
Happy Holidays
Brandon Beemer seems to just fit right in with the rest of the cast, and his scenes this past week with his parents were fantastic, and long overdue.
Kristian Alfonso
December 25, 2006
Best and worst of 2006
Zack was a very loved little boy, and his senseless accidental death at the hands of his newfound sister just made for good television.
