Newly returned DAYS actress books major pilot

Hot on the heels of her return to Days of our Lives comes word that Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez) has landed a role on an FX pilot titled Snowfall.

She just came back to Salem, but Days of our Lives' Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez) could already be on her way out!

The actress has booked a role on FX's Snowfall, a drama pilot set in the early 1980s at the beginning of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles. According to Deadline, who broke the news, the series focuses on three main characters: ambitious dealer Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), ex-Mexican wrestler and now gangster Gustavo Zapata (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), and prodigal son Logan Miller (Billy Magnussen, ex-Casey Hughes, As the World Turns).

Banus is set to play Lucia Villanueva, whose father is a successful drug dealer who's spoiled his little girl over the years. Born in Mexico but raised in the U.S., her entitlement masks a deeply scarred soul; she now wants to take control of her life through whatever means necessary.

John Singleton will direct the pilot.

In a recent interview with Soap Central, Banus revealed that she plans to stick around in Salem for at least a year -- and her fans no doubt hope she sticks to her word no matter how this pilot pans out.

Are you excited for Banus' new opportunity? Would you be sad to see her leave DAYS so soon after her return? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
