DAYS star pens novel about tyrannical boss

Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) has created quite a buzz with her upcoming book, Opportunity Knocks, which is set to make a few heads spin.

If you think The Devil Wears Prada boss Miranda Priestly was bad, wait until you read about tough-as-nails Hillary P., a character in the new novel Opportunity Knocks by Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady).

The actress' third novel follows Alex Cleary, who lands a dream job doing makeup for Hillary P. -- a culinary star with a million-dollar lifestyle empire and reputation for being very challenging. It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance and provides a steady paycheck.

But when Alex inadvertently violates the confidentiality clause of her contract, her dream opportunity turns to dust: she's on the hook for a million bucks -- unless she can squash the problem within 72 hours. With help from a Hollywood heartthrob, Alex concocts an elaborate scheme that just might get her off the hook. But everything will have to run precisely to plan, and the clock is already ticking...

Though the novel isn't officially for sale until April 5, 2016, publisher Hachette Books has already received bound galleys of the book and posted a photo. "We are SO excited for this one," the company wrote on Instagram. "Trust us, friends, you are going to love it."

Sweeney's previous novels include The Star Attraction, released in May of 2013, and Scared Scriptless: A Novel, released in June of 2014.

But she's not the only DAYS star who has added author to her résumé. Thaao Penghlis (Andre DiMera) just recently released a cookbook called Seducing Celebrities One Meal at a Time, available in bookstores now.
