Why settle for just five hours of Days of our Lives per week when you can have even more Salem fun? That's what the powers that be of the NBC soap opera must have been thinking when they created the new Days of our Lives: The Digital Series, which launches on August 1.
The new digital accompaniment to DAYS will begin with an eight-episode arc titled Chad and Abby in Paris. The collection of episodes stars Billy Flynn and Kate Mansi and chronicles what their popular alter egos have been up to since leaving Salem. The series will also feature fan fave Austin Peck, who reprises his role of Austin.
The first three episodes, which will range from six to ten minutes, will be available for viewing Thursday August 1, on the DOOL App. The remaining five episodes will be released weekly thereafter. All of the digital series episodes will also be available on the NBC app and NBC.com one week after streaming on the DOOL App.
"This new scripted digital series was created to complement storylines while enhancing the viewers experience as they watch the broadcast show," said DAYS Co-Executive Producer Greg Meng. "The DOOL App serves as our platform for delivering this and other original content to fans who want an interactive and multimedia experience as well as a way to stay connected to the show."
Days of our Lives: The Digital Series was written by current DAYS head writer Ron Carlivati and was produced by Corday Productions. At this time, it's unclear whether or not the digital series will be limited to Chad and Abigail's storyline, or if more installments involving other DAYS characters will be produced in the future.
