Exciting news came out today for Days of our Lives fans! Beloved series star Alison Sweeney is bringing Sami Brady back to Salem.
The actress announced her upcoming return to the NBC soap opera on today's episode of Hallmark's Home & Family, where she was promoting her new holiday film Time for You to Come Home for Christmas, which also stars country singer Blake Shelton.
Fans don't have to wait long for her Christmas film -- it airs tonight on Hallmark at 9PM ET/PT and will likely have several encore airings in the weeks ahead -- but they will have to wait a long time for Sami's return to Salem. Sweeney reveals that she won't be back on the NBC soap opera until next August.
As viewers know, DAYS recently experienced a one-year time jump that led to major changes for all of the characters living in Salem. The soap's head writer, Ron Carlivati, recently previewed that blasts from the past are headed back to the canvas in the wake of the time jump.
"There are some familiar faces coming back and I think some people may have a hint or two about that," he teased. "You just have to see how it unfolds!"
Sweeney got her start in the entertainment industry as long-running character Sami Brady on Days of our Lives, which she joined back in 1993. The actress decided to take a step back from the NBC soap opera in 2014 to focus on other projects, which most recently include her Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series The Chronicle Mysteries films and Time for You to Come Home for Christmas, her second Hallmark holiday film following 2017's Christmas at Holly Lodge. She has occasionally popped back into Salem for short stints, as her 2020 return is also likely to be.
