Somewhere under the careful watch of Deloitte and Touche LLP are the names of this year's Daytime Emmy winners. That's right, soap fans, the winners have been determined.
The general public will not learn who has won Emmy gold this year until Friday, May 19th.
In voting sessions held April 21st and 22nd in New York and April 28th and 29th in Los Angeles, a panel of Emmy voters screened the works submitted by this year's nominees and voted on who they felt was the best of the best of soaps in the year 2000.
Technical and creative arts areas, such as costume design and set decoration, winners will be announced one week prior to the Emmy telecast in a dual ceremony to be held May 12th in Los Angeles and New York. The voting process for the technical awards is conducted in the same manner as the other Emmy awards.
If you listen carefully to the Emmy telecast, you won't (or shouldn't) hear anyone say, "And the winner is..." Presenters are told to say, "And the Emmy goes to..." because all nominees are considered winners in their own right.
