Emmy Nominations Due March 13th

The nominations for this year's Daytime Emmy awards will be announced on Wednesday, March 16th.

Among the big questions this year is whether or not As The World Turns will again capture the lion's share of nominations. In total, As The World Turns captured 25 nominations - and went on to win eight trophies, including Outstanding Drama Series. In second place was ABC's All My Children, with 21 nominations.

To prevent the one-sidedness of last year's awards, several shows have reportedly made pacts to insure that they are not shut out of the nominations again this year. On the record, however, no executives would confirm that they had made any special deals.

As The World Turns is expected to again earn numerous nominations, however, media experts are expecting to also see a record number of nominations for Port Charles. Port Charles changed its storytelling format and earned critical praise for inventive storylines, including one with vampires. Michael Easton (ex-Caleb Morley) is widely expected to capture an Outstanding Lead Actor nomination. The Young and the Restless, virtually shut out last year, is also expected to see several of its performers capture Emmy nominations, including Rick Hearst (ex-Matt Clark) and Sabryn Genet (ex-Tricia McNeil). The Bold and the Beautiful is also expected to have another good showing this year. Last year the show capture two acting wins -- Outstanding Younger Actor and Outstanding Younger Actress -- a record for the show.

This year's ceremony will be in a different venue, moving from Radio City Music Hall to The Theatre at Madison Square Garden. The event will be broadcast live on May 17th.
