2013 Daytime Emmys: Creative Arts winners

The 40th Annual Creative Arts and Entertainment Daytime Emmy Awards were presented on Friday, June 14, at a gala held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.

The Creative Arts portion of the Daytime Emmys honors excellence in mostly non-acting categories -- the behind-the-scenes technology that makes it possible for there to be episodes of the soaps: Outstanding Technical Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Make-up, Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design, and more. Awards are also handed out to non-soap programming, including categories likes Outstanding Writing in a Children's Series.

CBS's two soaps led the pack with eleven total wins. The Young and the Restless earned six of those trophies, while The Bold and the Beautiful picked up five.

The Daytime Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television programs that are broadcast nationally between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 p.m. The eligibility period for this year's Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards was January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2012.

This year, five of the eligible soaps were nominated for Emmys in the various technical categories. Each of the soaps eligible won at least one award. Days of our Lives earned two wins, largely in part for the show's "DAYSaster" sequence. General Hospital won a single award, despite 11 nominations. One Life to Live, eligible for its final episodes on ABC in January 2011, received one nomination -- and won for Multiple Camera Editing.
