10 Hiccup and Toothless moments from How to Train Your Dragon
10) Their first meeting (How to Train Your Dragon)

It all began in the first film when Hiccup encountered this dragon called Night Fury and shared the raw fish with it. Scared at first, he couldn’t help but meet him again and again. From sharing the fish to letting him touch him for the first time was on point, a pet behavior from Toothless, who was just warming up to this human who found him.
9) The test drive scene (How to Train Your Dragon)

Another thing about the films is the background scores that perfectly match the scene that’s going on. Toothless and Hiccup’s first meeting and eventual friendship had John Powell’s Forbidden Friendship playing in the background, summarizing the friendship between a Viking and a dragon, forbidden in every sense.
Just like this, another scene that is made iconic by the combination of background score and the moment it incorporates is Hiccup and Toothless’s first flight together. It’s not successful on the first try, but they both learn to sync and protect each other while soaring through the clouds in the sky.
8) With the help of Toothless, Hiccup understands how to take care of dragons (How to Train Your Dragon)

Spending time with Toothless in secret also made Hiccup understand the behavior of the other dragons. In one of the scenes in the first film, Hiccup sees Toothless enjoy rolling in the grass and uses this technique against another dragon and controls him, impressing his friends.
Just like the pets, Hiccup discovers that Toothless likes to be scratched, and so do the other dragons. What more evidence do we need after seeing Toothless loving when Hiccup scratches him, and he behaves just like a pet?
7) Toothless hugs Hiccup for his new tail (How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World)

Years of being together didn’t change the beautiful friendship between Hiccup and Toothless. We can see it in the third film, when Hiccup makes the perfect tail for Toothless, which matches his color, and he is happy that he can fly again.
He jumps on Hiccup with happiness and licks him before going away as Hiccup teases him to go and meet his girlfriend.
6) Toothless saves Hiccup from falling into the fire (How to Train Your Dragon)

In the first film, Toothless and Hiccup indulged in one of the most dangerous situations when they fought with the Red Death dragon. Furthermore, we almost lost Hiccup after he fell off Toothless's back and was almost falling to his death in the fire.
With Hiccup not there to control his tailwind, Toothless falls with him and catches Hiccup right on time, and is later found by Stoick wrapped inside Toothless’s wings. This act showed how deeply protective Toothless is and that he would do anything to help his friend, even if he himself is in danger.
5) Toothless showing his protective instincts (How to Train Your Dragon 2)

In the second film, we find Toothless and Hiccup now well acquainted with each other and enjoying their long flights between the clouds. Not just that, Hiccup has also created a bodysuit that could let him fly beside his dragon friend.
However, things are bound to go a little wrong when it comes to Hiccup and Toothless, and it happens in the scene when Hiccup loses control and Toothless has to catch Hiccup mid-air, blasting through rocks and saving him, showing us his protective instincts.
4) Toothless needs an apology (How to Train Your Dragon 2)

The scene doesn’t end there, as after saving Hiccup, Toothless pouts, implying that he might need an apology from his rider. Hiccup teases him for it and is threatened by Toothless, who threatens him by implying that he can throw him off the hill, into the water.
Hiccup then plays with his dragon, just like we do sometimes with our pets, who seem to want attention every now and then. This changes Toothless’ mood, and he gets cuddly with Hiccup and licks him tremendously, which is not appreciated by Hiccup, but he endures it for his dragon’s happiness.
3) Hiccup saves Toothless from Drago (How to Train Your Dragon 2)

Toothless has saved Hiccup countless times, but in the second film, he finds himself in the control of the Alpha, under whose control he kills Stoick and is now ridden by Drago. Hiccup doesn't waste time and goes on to make Toothless remember him.
He tells him that Stoick’s death was not his fault, as he would never try to harm him or his father. Hiccup is seen struggling to fight the Alpha’s control over him and almost does it when Hiccup touches his snout. Hiccup calls Toothless his best friend, which helps the dragon break Alpha's control of him, and gives the wide-eyed look to his friend, showing that he has regained his consciousness and is now the cuddly pet dragon of Hiccup.
2) Hiccup and Toothless’s farewell (How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World)

This was one of the most emotional moments and might remind you of losing a pet or being away from them for various reasons. Hiccup tells Toothless that he has been taking care of and protecting him for a long time, and now he needs to take care of himself and build a life of his own. The farewell scene is one of the most emotional moments of the final film.
1) Toothless and Hiccup reunion (How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World)

However, the film doesn’t end on a sad note, as Toothless does visit Hiccup after several years and, after smelling him for a while, remembers his best friend, which changes his expression, and he again becomes playful. Hiccup also lets him meet his children.
The scene might remind you of visiting your pets after being away from them for a while. They might behave strangely at first, like Toothless, but when they get the whiff of their owner, they become the playful creatures they are with their owners.
