Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming superhero movie that is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team. The movie is a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The movie features the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men teaming up to face Doctor Doom. While a bevy of characters have been announced that will feature in the new movie, there are some surprising omissions. Here are 10 Marvel Heroes that did not make the cut for the upcoming movie.

Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, and other Marvel heroes missing from Avengers: Doomsday

1. Hulk

One of the biggest surprises for the fans of Marvel was that one of the founding members of the Avengers was not included in the Avengers: Doomsday list of characters. Bruce Banner, or the Hulk, is surprisingly not with the team in the list that was announced. While the upcoming movies surely have some of the most major heroes in the lineup, it does feel incomplete without the trusty old Hulk. One of the most interesting and central superheroes, the movie seems to have ignored one of its prime members, who is always there to get furious and smash things around. Even in Captain America: Brave New World, there were many characters from Hulk’s past, and his absence was felt in the story. It now seems difficult to ascertain who is actually an official Avenger. Of the founding members, it seems that only Thor is a listed cast member. It seems that Marvel wants to infuse new energy with new characters, but the old ones need to be present for the passing of the torch.

2. Deadpool

While Avengers: Doomsday is packed with serious superheroes who are intent on saving the world from villains, Marvel’s Deadpool is one of those brash heroes who causes chaos wherever he goes. Therefore, even though Deadpool might not fit into the serious and heroic temper of the rest of the Avengers, he does have the skills and abilities to hoodwink the enemy and therefore give the Avengers enough time to complete their mission. However, it seems that Marvel has left out its mischievous superhero from the lineup of the movie. Even though Deadpool and Wolverine were a massive hit, and many fans felt that this hit would guarantee that Deadpool would be in the next major fight, it did not happen. Unless Marvel pulls out some surprises, it seems that the R-rated mercenary is out of the new movie for now.

3. Scarlet Witch

Another surprising omission from the cast list of Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday was that of the mighty Scarlet Witch. The character is one of the most powerful live-action Marvel heroes currently and is one of the few female superheroes who is incredibly brave and full of enigma. Therefore, the Scarlet Witch not being included in the upcoming movie is a bit of a surprise for fans. Wanda Maximoff’s powers are so strong that she can defeat most of the other Avengers as well. Whenever she appears in a movie, Scarlet Witch only grows stronger. She has an arsenal of powers, including reality-altering, the power of flight, she can spew energy blasts, and can even travel the multiverse through dream-walking. Therefore, with so many powers at her disposal, it is unfortunate that the courageous superhero is not in the list of cast members.

4. Daredevil

Daredevil is another exciting character from Marvel that has been omitted from Marvel’s cast list of Avengers: Doomsday. The character might not have super-strength, but he is a tactful vigilante who knows how to blend in the his surroundings and has acute senses that can give the Avengers an edge in any kind of battle. While the blind hero is a lawyer by day, he knows how to mask himself as he shifts into a vigilante by night. His addition to the Avengers team would have made for an interesting choice. The superhero was earlier seen in a Netflix series, and even though the show was acclaimed, it wrapped up after three seasons, and the character of Daredevil was only seen briefly in some of the Marvel movies. However, just when fans thought that this was the end of the line for the character, a new Disney+ revival series began, and the Man Without Fear was back. Since the series is doing so well, the movie should have incorporated the character of Daredevil.

5. Doctor Strange

Marvel is full of surprises, and one of the most startling ones of those was the absence of Doctor Strange from the Avengers: Doomsday lineup. Not only is Doctor Strange one of the most important and powerful characters in the MCU, but he also has close bonds with many Marvel heroes. His absence from the upcoming movie is borderline shocking, as the Doctor has been instrumental in defeating Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Further, the movie is about Doctor Doom, who is a master of dark magic. As many viewers know, if there is someone who has mastery over magic and plays on the good side, then it is Doctor Strange. Strange was so powerful that he was able to take down even Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Therefore, Strange would be the perfect choice to deal with Doom. Plus, the movie would also develop the friendship between Strange and Reed Richards, as is shown in the comics.

6. Star-Lord

Star-Lord was one of the most interesting characters to be seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. While most heroes in the MCU are not guaranteed to make a return, Star-Lord, or Peter Quill, was one of the few characters that was hinted to come back. The ending of Vol. 3 hinted that the space rogue would be back soon. Therefore, there was a certain expectation that the character would be seen alongside the Avengers: Doomsday cast. However, it seems that the hero has been kept on hold for now. While there is no news of another Guardians movie right now, it seems that Star-Lord will make a comeback with the Avengers, but not in Doomsday. When the character does show up, it would be interesting to see him team up with the Avengers and work without his team of Guardians.

7. Rocket

Another important member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, who did not make the cut for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, was Rocket. The sharp and scrappy inventor was omitted from the list of characters to be present in the new Avengers movie. It seems that the Guardians will not be involved in the fight against Doctor Doom, and should the fight occur outside the Earth, only then will the Guardians jump in to save the day. At the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Rocket had taken over the leadership role, and he is therefore an able character who can lead from the front. As there are no new Guardians movies in the lineup currently, it could be possible that a large team-up movie might be made to merge Avengers and the Guardians. Rocket would be the perfect character to blend in as he is one of the few MCU heroes to have survived the blip and therefore has connections with the Avengers.

8. Captain Marvel

While fans of the character continue to be divided over the live-action version of the superhero, there is no doubt that Captain Marvel is one of the strongest female superheroes. She is even mightier than Hulk and has a diverse range of powers. Captain Marvel has the ability to beat Thanos, who had nearly defeated Hulk. Therefore, the absence of the character from Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is telling. The superhero is imbued with an Infinity Stone’s power through the Tesseract, and Carol Danvers or Captain Marvel is therefore not someone to be played with. Further, she has the powers of flying, super speed, and energy bursts that can take down any enemy. While Marvel has kept the cast of the new movie filled with earth-bound characters and has omitted Guardians and the Eternals, it remains to be seen if there will be any more additions.

9. Wolverine

Another shocking omission from the cast list of Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday is that of Wolverine. Surprisingly, the original mutant is not a part of the movie because other famous mutants are appearing in the film. Further, Wolverine had a revival with the superhit movie Deadpool and Wolverine, and therefore, it was anticipated that the superhero would be present in the new Marvel movie. After all, Wolverine joining hands with Professor X would be the next logical step. Therefore, the absence of the original Wolverine from the movie is telling. However, it seems that the new Avengers film is working with a different storyline that does not require the character to be present. However, Wolverine has some serious, powerful moves and plenty of experience. Therefore, it is shocking that the hero has been omitted.

10. Spider-Man

The absence of this superhero led many fans of Marvel to be surprised. Many were even unhappy and could not believe that Spider-Man, who is one of the most important Marvel heroes, had been omitted from Avengers: Doomsday. The man with the ability to weave webs has been instrumental in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Therefore, it was always assumed that the superhero would return. However, this was not to happen. Even though many rumors suggested that Spider-Man would be at the center of Doomsday, that never happened. While Spider-Man has brilliant powers and is an asset because of his friendship with The Fantastic Four, his reunion with the Avengers will have to wait. It might be that Marvel does not want its main man to be overused and, therefore, wants to give him a break from the upcoming film. Whatever might be the reason, there is a section of viewers who were ardently waiting for his presence.
