The cosmic tapestry of the Marvel Cinematic Universe does have some of the most powerful gods, and some beings who are even more powerful than the gods. These entities possess immense powers. Some of them are benevolent, while others are not so much. Though the Avengers strive to protect the world, some of the gods have the potential to destroy worlds. These beings can shake the very existence of reality.

Their motivations might be on the positive side. However, if we consider a hypothetical situation of their ability to destroy worlds, then it won’t be a difficult task for them. We are always in awe of these powerful creatures. Yet the sheer terror these beings can create shakes us to our core.

In this list, we will talk about the MCU gods and some powerful beings who are even stronger than some of the gods, with the ability to destroy worlds. Their potential lies in their brute strength and wit. They have the ability to manipulate reality, command cosmic energies, or simply exist as beings of pure untamed power.

10 MCU gods who could wipe out worlds

1) Thor

The God of Thunder possesses the raw power of thunder. He has the ability to wipe out worlds with ease. We are first introduced to Thor in the 2011 movie Thor. In the movie, he is initially shown as an arrogant Asgardian. His immense strength, along with his mastery of lightning, makes him a force to be reckoned with. Since 2011, we have seen Thor in several other movies.

His powers have evolved and grown stronger with each one of them. Though Thor is the protector, particularly of Earth and Asgard, there is no denying that he has the ability to wipe out worlds. His raw strength, when amplified with weapons like Stormbreaker and Mjolnir, could theoretically unleash havoc and devastating consequences.

2) Hercules

Thor: Love and Thunder introduced us to Hercules. Though the movie does not show much of his powers and abilities, the comics have a depiction of it. Hercules is known for his strength and speed.

He is a strong contender for Thor as well. Though he does not destroy worlds, he does have the power to do so. MCU often takes creative liberties while creating the movies and series, so in a hypothetical situation, seeing Hercules destroy worlds with his immense powers would not be a bad storyline.

3) Zeus

Though MCU’s depiction of Zeus does not specifically show his powers of destroying the world, he is shown in a villainous light in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder. His actions suggest a different kind of power. His authority and role as the leader of Omnipotence City prove his strength and valour.

Furthermore, his dismissive and arrogant nature towards Thor suggests a greater hostility towards Thor specifically. In a hypothetical situation, it cannot be denied that he does have the power to destroy worlds. It will be great to see Zeus in action against Thor in the later adaptations, should they be made. This powerful god is a great addition to the MCU, and the viewers are eager to see more of him.

4) Loki

Can the God of Mischief destroy worlds? Though the God of Mischief might not sound as intimidating as the God of Thunder, it would be foolish to underestimate Loki's power. He is not just about strength; his wit and intellect act as a propelling factor for creating chaos as well.

He is known for creating trouble. His actions, especially in the movie Avengers, depict the power he holds and his ability to create mass destruction. Loki’s mastery of illusion could also come to aid in a hypothetical situation of world destruction. The variants of Loki that can be seen in the series showcase his wide range of powers.

5) Odin

Odin represents immense power, wisdom, and authority. In the movie Thor: Ragnarok, we see mentions of Odin’s reign. During that time, he was a formidable warrior. Though we see him in his later years when he is not shown as a strong God, his strength can still be understood.

He wielded powerful cosmic energy. He engaged in wars and battles that shaped the cosmos. His ability to banish Hela only proves how strong he is. Although we do not witness him directly destroying a world, his power and past actions firmly place him among those with the potential to do so.

6) Hela

The title of the Goddess of Death is enough to elicit images of destruction and devastation. We are introduced to Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. She is the main antagonist of the movie. We first see her arrive in front of Thor and Loki, and destroy Mjolnir with her sheer strength.

It depicts the intense power she wields. Her connection to Asgard grants her immense power as well. Had she succeeded in her ambition, she could have easily expanded her dominion. She has the potential to easily destroy worlds.

7) Khonshu

Khonshu is the Egyptian God of the Moon and vengeance. Though we do not see him in any Marvel movie yet, he is a prominent figure in the Moon Knight series. Moon Knight does have the potential strength to destroy the world. His power is more manipulative and subtle.

He grants his chosen avatar the power of strength, speed, and durability. However, Khonshu’s divine nature and potential for amplified influence can't be discounted.

8) Celestials

The Celestials are among the oldest entities in the universe. They wield the power on a scale that dwarfs most other life forms. Arishem has the power to destroy entire worlds.

Their destructive abilities are not just limited to simply unleashing raw power. Arishem has the ability to interact with a planet on a fundamental level. Celestials are also creators on a grand scale. They have the power to both destroy and create on a cosmic level. This makes their kind one of the most formidable opponents in the MCU.
