15 Action stars and their body doubles 

Hollywood is known all around the world for its thrilling action movies. While there are actors that have earned a reputation of being action stars and many of them try to do their stunts, they still need a body double to do the deadly scenes. Many doubles have worked for a single actor over the years and many have worked prolifically. Here is an interesting list that mentions actors and their body doubles.

1. Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home

The Spider-Man actor has two body doubles to thank—Greg Townley and Luke Scott. They were the ones who made sure that the actor was able to do precarious scenes. Holland thanked them for their hard work in an Instagram post where all three wear the iconic red and blue superhero suit and are seen having a fun time together.

2. Elizabeth Banks in Power Rangers

The movie is high on action and stunts and therefore, the actress needed a body double to go through all the dangerous scenes. Her twin was played by Rita Repulsa who did all the stunts for Banks and the two share a friendly bond. Repulsa looks identical to Banks and when she dons the Power Rangers suit, she becomes unrecognizable.

3. Brie Larson in Captain Marvel

The humble actress was so grateful for her two stunt doubles that she brought them on stage during the 2019 MTV Movie & Awards. As Larson won the Best Fight award, she brought her doubles, Joanna Bennett and Renae Moneymaker, and hailed them as the “living embodiment of Captain Marvel.”

4. Keanu Reeves in John Wick 3

The John Wick franchise is action-packed and has several high-octane stunts and chases that definitely require a body double for Keanu Reeves. Even though Reeves prefers to do many stunts on his own, Ian van Temperley was his stunt double in the movie. A scene where the actor escapes after being attacked by a car was done by the stunt double.

5. Liam Neeson in Taken

Another action franchise that is a blockbuster hit due to its gritty fights and chases in Taken. Neeson was catapulted to fame because of the movie and it is no wonder that there needs to be a body double to perform those action sequences. Mark Vanselow is Neeson’s regular stunt double and even coordinates stunts.

6. Dwayne Johnson in San Andreas

The Rock is famous for his action movies and even he needs a steady body double along his side. He found one in none other than his cousin, Tanoai Reed, who has worked as Johnson’s double for 17 years. The two have worked together on many other movies and in gratitude, Johnson gifted Reed a pickup truck in an Instagram video.

7. Cameron Diaz in Knight and Day

The stylish comedy-action flick starring Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise was a breezy hit. The movie is known for high-speed stunts and action scenes and while Tom Cruise loves to do his own stunts, Diaz’s body double during the crucial scenes was Kimberly Shannon Murphy who has also worked on other movies.

8. Chris Hemsworth in Thor: The Dark World

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie that revolves around the defender of Asgard is one of the most popular movies in the franchise. While Hemsworth is famous for portraying the fabled hero, many of the stunts and action scenes are done by Bobby Holland Hanton. The stuntman has worked with Chris in many other movies as well.

9. Daniel Craig in Skyfall

If there is one movie that immediately reminds viewers of action scenes and deadly stunts, then it is a James Bond movie. Each Bond movie ups the stakes when it comes to breathtaking action scenes. In Skyfall, many dangerous scenes are done by Craig’s double Andy Lister. In a James Bond suit, Lister and Craig are almost identical.

10. Gerard Butler in Machine Gun Preacher

The raw and gritty biographical movie that tells the story of a former gang biker turned pastor is heavy on some biking stunts. While Butler plays the role with aplomb, his double, Ele Bardha, is the one to be credited for going through all the raw action scenes. In the movie, Bardha looks eerily like Butler’s character.

11. Jennifer Garner in Deadpool & Wolverine

The smash hit movie from 2024 has an ensemble cast where Jennifer Garner plays the role of Elektra in the MCU flick. Garner was grateful for her longtime double, Shauna Duggins, who did the stunts for Elektra on Garner’s behalf. The two even share a warm bond and are friends with each other.

12. Jason Momoa in Fast X

Momoa is a striking figure and finding a double for him can be a hard task. But fortunately, he has one in Kim Fardy. The stuntman did the risky scenes for Momoa in the action movie and the two look almost alike. Momoa even expressed his love for Fardy in an Instagram post.

13. Chris Pratt in Jurassic World Dominion

The action thriller is one of the few movies where the lead actor has not one, not two, but three body doubles! Pratt is joined by Alistair Whitton, Clay Chamberlin, and Chris Romrell, who all essay Pratt’s character in the movie and do the deadly stunts. Pratt even acknowledged them by mentioning that “it takes a village to be me” in an Instagram post.

14. Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road

The action-packed film has some of the most intense stunts and heavy scenes and therefore, Hardy needed a body double for the movie. All the intense scenes were done by Jacob Tomuri who donned the same attire as Hardy and looked exactly like him. Tomuri even posted a photo with the actor and the two looked like twins.

15. Anthony Mackie in Captain America: Civil War

Another MCU movie that delivers thrilling action sequences is Captain America: Civil War. While Anthony Mackie does not become Captain America in this movie, he does have some high-flying stunts that were handled by Aaron Toney. The movie is full of action and the actor has to thank Toney for doing all the dangerous work on his behalf.
