12) Edward Herrmann

Edward Herrmann, best known for his role as Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, passed away on December 31, 2014, at the age of 71 after a battle with brain cancer. He died in a New York hospital, where he had been receiving treatment.

Herrmann's manager described him as a "true gentleman and a scholar."

His passing was felt deeply by fans and the cast of Gilmore Girls, who honored his legacy in the revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The show addressed his character's death, portraying the emotional impact on Lorelai, Rory, and Emily Gilmore.
