When Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis achieved national fame as a comedy duo, creative differences and egos tore them apart. Martin became increasingly frustrated that Lewis was more in control of the routine than he was, with Lewis's larger-than-life persona outshining his own. The two dramatically parted in 1956 and did not speak for decades, coming together again in a one-night stand on stage in 1976 following an invitation from Frank Sinatra.
