Based on H.G. Wells' novel, The Time Machine (1960) remains a landmark time travel film. It is directed by George Pal, who features Rod Taylor as a stubborn inventor who designs a time machine that will take him from the boisterous wars of the 20th century into the distant future where mankind is divided between the gentle Eloi and the awful Morlocks. The special effects of the film were groundbreaking at the time and won the Academy Award for Best Special Effects.
