Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa in Black Panther (2018) helped break the mold of a traditional superhero, becoming the standard for African-American actors and representation in film. It shocked the world when Chadwick Boseman died of colon cancer at 43. He had kept the diagnosis private. Beyond superhero stardom, his impact in 42 (2013) and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom (2020), to name a few, left his mark on the cinematic world, with many awards pouring in posthumously. His legacy transcends film: he inspired the Black youth and became a symbol of resilience.
