18. The Homelander Stare

One of the iconic visual elements with which the audience is familiar, and Antony Starr succeeds in delivering the most chilling of gazes, has to do with the "Homelander stare." In some episodes of The Boys, he uses this deep, soul-piercing gaze to convey what's inside the mind of Homelander—that is, the darkness, control, and manipulation. Whether this is a matter of power or control or pure anger, there is always an aura of malice. Starr's ability to say so much with his eyes makes Homelander all the more frightening, amplifying the unsettling nature of the character.
