Down To The Bone focuses on the negative impact of drug abuse on family and relationships. In this movie, Irene’s addiction remains hidden initially which again shows the insidious nature of drug abuse and how everything seems normal in the beginning. As Irene’s addiction worsens she struggles to care for her own children and they even start to fear her growing erratic behaviour. As Irene tries to break free from her addiction, she faces the challenges that come with it. The movie has a potent portrayal of how difficult the struggle is for recovery. The movie shows how important it is for drug abusers to find support to eventually break free from their addiction.
