This film follows Daniel LaRusso, played by Ralph Macchio, who, after being bullied, starts to learn Karate as defense from Mr. Miyagi, played by Pat Morita. The film is a beloved classic, and one of the reasons for it is Mr. Miyagi. Although a supporting role, Morita's portrayal of Mr. Miyagi was both endearing and wise. The humor and warmth he provided as a mentor to Macchio's David made it heartwarming to watch.
