Anne Hathaway was initially cast to play Katherine Heigl's role in Knocked Up (2007), but it wasn't long before she replaced another actress. Rumor has it that the reason Anne Hathaway was replaced due to creative differences with Knocked Up director Judd Apatow over the explicit birth scene. However, it appears that the rumors were indeed wrong. In an interview with Allure, Hathaway said, "Judd was right about that. My problem with it was that, not having experienced motherhood personally, I didn't know how I was gonna feel on the other side about giving birth."
