The kitchen fight in Monkey Man is fast and brutal. Dev Patel’s character smashes plates, throws knives, and uses whatever he can find to stay alive. The camera sticks close, showing every punch and kick, and it doesn’t cut away when it hits land. He takes damage, slamming into counters and glass, but keeps getting back up. The attackers don’t let up, and the fight spills from one corner of the kitchen to another, leaving broken furniture and shattered glass everywhere. By the end, Patel’s character is bleeding and out of breath, but the last man standing.
