17) The Silence of the Lambs

This psycho-thriller by Jonathan Demme explores the severely twisted side of the human mind. It introduced one of the most chilling characters in cinematic history, Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant yet unhinged psychiatrist turned gruesome criminal. The story begins with Clarice, a determined young FBI trainee, on the hunt for the notorious serial killer Buffalo Bill, whose grotesque habit of skinning his victims adds to his terror. She seeks Lecter's help, and through their conversations, the horrifying layers of the story gradually unfold.
