On Independence Day, the end requires the humans to upload a computer virus to the alien's high-tech system, disabling their ships. The question is: how can Jeff Goldblum's character, who knows nothing about alien systems, create a virus that would be compatible with alien technology that is so advanced? It makes the resolution farfetched and illogical. Exciting though the action-packed finale of the film is, this plot hole weakens the logic behind the final victory, stretching the viewer's suspension of disbelief too far.
