Sectumsempra is an extremely dark and hazardous curse that causes deep slashing wounds in the target's body. It is found in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince when Harry applies it to Draco Malfoy. The spell was formulated by Severus Snape when he was a student at Hogwarts School. Its destructive capability is phenomenal. Later in the series, it is revealed that the origins of the spell show Snape's problematic past with dark magic.
