Nox is a counter-curse to Lumos, putting out the light from the tip of a wizard's wand. This spell is often used by Potter and his friends to turn off the lights on their wands during stealth missions. Nox becomes particularly relevant when wizards try to remain unnoticed during their movements, such as in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when the trio is infiltrating the Ministry of Magic.
