The Lumos is a pretty nifty, yet very practical incantation that makes the end of a wizard's wand glow, thus making it a flashlight. Harry Potter and his friends often use it when they move through dark, or otherwise hidden places, as a result, the spell becomes a very important element of their travels. He even uses it in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to light the way through the Forbidden Forest. The real-world adaptations of Lumos have also been observed when modern wizards use it to communicate through magical devices, such as a Deluminator in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, further highlighting this versatility.
