Harry Shum Jr. is a US actor and dancer. He appeared in a romantic film entitled All My Life in 2020. Later the same year, he starred in the thriller Broadcast Signal Intrusion and the Netflix holiday film Love Hard. One of his roles in the series Shadowhunters earned him a major award in 2018. His work is highly varied and heartfelt, whether in the themes of sweet love stories or grim thrillers. The following list is of his top seven performances. 7. Rita Rocks (2008-2009)

Rita Rocks is a light comedy available for purchase on Apple TV and Roku. It is about the story of Rita Clemens, a busy mom who wants some time to herself. Along with her neighbours and friends, including Owen and Patty, she forms a garage band. Rita uses the band to relieve her daily stress. They meet in the garage to play music and spend time together.

Harry Shum Jr. featured in season 1 as Zack in the episode Flirting with Disasters. Zack adds to all the fun and chaos to this episode as one of the young musicians Rita and Patty meet.

Although the show overall had only two seasons, it has had a following. Rita Rocks is a light comedy with funny scenes, with the idea that you should be what you wish to be in life.


6. Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020-2024)

Star Trek: Lower Decks is an animated sitcom show on Paramount. It is based on the USS Cerritos crew and takes place in the Star Trek universe. These crew members hold no high rank and perform little tasks that other vessels avoid. The series is hilarious and full of weird space adventures. The show aired for four seasons.

Harry Shum Jr. voices the character named Rawda who belongs to the Areore, an alien birdlike race. He finds a tiny robot named Peanut Hamper who crash-lands on his planet. The two develop closeness and fall in love. Harry Shum Jr. gave Rawda a warm and caring voice. The episode revealed how different beings can find their way to connect in the most unlikely of ways. It is a great example of the fun and creative tales within Lower Decks.


5. Zoey 101 (2005-2008)

Zoey 101 was a fun and emotional show available on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video. It follows Zoey Brooks, who is among the first females to attend Pacific Coast Academy, a prestigious boarding school in California. She makes new friends and manages to balance her academic life, crushes, and growing up. Filmed in an actual school in Malibu, it made everything look so real. The series ran for four seasons and proved popular among young people.

Harry Shum Jr. appeared during Trading Places episode of season four as a guest character called Roy. This was one of his earlier appearances before he got famous. In this episode, Zoey returns to school to explain how she feels to Chase. It was during these pivotal moments in the episode that Roy appeared as waiter in a resturant where Zoey is having her online date with Chase.

The show successfully balanced funny and poignant sequences as the characters underwent significant changes. It explains why Zoey 101 is still cherished by many viewers.


4. Love Hard (2021)

The film Love Hard is a romantic comedy released on Netflix in November 2021. The film tells the story of Natalie, a Los Angeles writer who has a bad dating history. She finds Josh online and flies to his hometown for Christmas to surprise him, but upon arrival, she finds out that Josh used someone else's picture. Despite feeling hurt, Natalie stays and eventually agrees to let Josh help her win over Tag, the guy in the picture.

Harry Shum Jr. portrays Owen, Josh's older brother. Owen is extremely successful and requires constant attention. He is married to Chelsea and often tries to steal Josh's thunder. In one humorous scene, Owen and Chelsea announce their baby news during a family party to one-up others. Harry Shum Jr. makes Owen both funny and annoying. The film includes the spirit of holidays, humour and shows how love may come in a variety of forms.


3. Broadcast Signal Intrusion (2021)

Broadcast Signal Intrusion is a mystery thriller that is set in Chicago during the late 1990s. The story centres on James, and this video archivist is still struggling to overcome the loss of his wife, Hannah, which took place three years ago. One night, James discovers a weird video interruption of normal broadcasts, which is fairly unnerving.

This video features a person in a white rubber mask talking in a weird voice. The discovery sends James into a very obsessive state. He starts looking for clues and believes these videos are somehow connected to his wife's case.

Harry Shum Jr. plays the lead character, James and fairly impresses as the character gradually spirals out of control. In the tapes, James finds Morse code, unusual sounds, and hidden phone numbers. As he continues, he goes into full paranoia mode and considers that someone is indeed watching his every move. A key scene has James visiting an old farmhouse where he meets Michael Gardiner, a man with possible connections to the videos. By the end of the movie, the viewers are left very confused whether James unravelled the truth or made a wrong turn.


2. Burn (2019)

Burn is a dark, emotional film that unfolds in the middle of the night at a gas station. Melinda works there and is feeling lonely and ignored. A man, Billy, shows up one night with a stolen car and a concealed gun to rob the station. However, things do not exactly go as planned. Melinda soon finds herself in this weird, unlikely position where she starts connecting with Billy. The story follows how people come together during hard times in unexpected ways.

Harry Shum Jr. is Officer Liu, a young cop who comes around to check in on the gas station. He is empathetic & he knows that Melinda is the invisible one. He addresses her; he treats her as a human being that the majority in her life do not. Liu is one of the few good guys in this story, and he is soft-spoken. One pivotal moment in Burn reveals Liu listening intently as Melinda feels seen for the first time. This postulates and perhaps even justifies why Melinda would be so desperate for some contact with someone in her life.

All My Life is a romantic drama film about two lovers, Jennifer and Solomon. The two lovers meet each other at a sports bar and fall in love. Solomon quits his technology job to pursue his dream of becoming a chef. He proposes to Jennifer through a flash mob. When Solomon finds out he has terminal liver cancer, plans for their wedding are abruptly changed.

Harry Shum Jr. played the role of Solomon and is heartily persuasive in the movie as he represented how strong and caring Solomon remained even when he faced a severe disease. In one tragic scene, Solomon sends a puppy named Otis home to inform Jennifer that his cancer has returned. Another scene shows them dancing together and enjoying a peaceful, beautiful moment during their wedding. The film is moving in the sense that it is a heart-warming, hopeful tale of love.
