7 Best Thorin moments from The Hobbit trilogy
7) Thorin goes on a quest to reclaim the Misty Mountains

In the first The Hobbit film, Balin tells Thorin that he doesn’t have to go on this dangerous journey, as their people are living a healthy and happy life in the Blue Mountains and that they don’t need to take their people back.
Thorin, while showing the key that he inherited from his father and grandfather, tells Balin that after inheriting this key, he lost his choice. He has to take this journey to the misty mountains to get back their home and the treasures that they had to leave due to Smaug. After that heavy conversation of why this journey is important for Thorin, the Dwarves, starting with Thorin, sing the Misty Mountains song, which is one of the fan-favorite turns from The Hobbit trilogy.
6) Thorin’s company fights the three trolls

As they embark on their journey with Bilbo included, they encounter three trolls, and Bilbo gets captured by them. While the trolls decide to cook Bilbo and eat him, Throin and his Company courageously attack the trolls to free Bilbo.
Although they are all captured by the trolls at the end of the scene in the first film of The Hobbit trilogy, the dwarves never cease to show the courage that they have in order to save their friend from danger. Ultimately, it's Bilbo who tricks the trolls and saves them until the next morning, and later Gandalf’s help frees them from the capture.
5) Thorin hugs Bilbo

Since meeting Bilbo Baggins at the beginning of The Hobbit trilogy, Thorin had not fully trusted the hobbit. He had been skeptical of him until the end of the first film when Bilbo saved his life.
As they were ambushed by Azog, the orc lord who had also killed Thorin’s grandfather Thrór, and was defeated by Thorin in a battle earlier. He was looking for Throrin to kill him and found his chance when they encountered each other again. This time, Azog had the upper hand and severely injured Thorin until Bilbo helped him.
After Thorin lay unconscious, Azog orders his Warg to bring him his head. Bilbo courageously wields his sword and confronts the warg, killing it to save Thorin. Later, the Great Eagles and the other Dwarves help save the lives of all of them from Orc and his army. After the incident, Thorin finally sees Bilbo as his friend and hugs him as he lets go of his doubts about the hobbit.
4) Thorin comes to his senses

Getting back all the treasures from Smaug turns out to be unfortunate, as after Smaug is killed by Bard, Thorin still suffers from dragon sickness and is blinded by his greed. In the third film of The Hobbit trilogy, Thranduil claims his gold that was withheld by Thorin’s grandfather, and Bard also comes to ask for his share that he was promised by Thorin.
Due to his immense greed, he refuses to share the gold with anyone and almost kills Bilbo for hiding and giving away the Arkenstone Thandruil. He doesn’t even support his Dáin in his fight with Azog until he encounters hallucinations of Smaug and also himself being swallowed by a gold floor created by their fight with Smaug, resulting in him regaining his senses.
3) Thorin and his company join the Battle of the Five Armies

After encountering the horrifying hallucinations, Thorin regains his senses and gives up on his greedy and selfish mindset that kept him and his company hidden in the Lonely Mountain while others were fighting with the Orc army and Azog.
After initially refusing to help Dáin in the last film of The Hobbit trilogy, Thorin later joins him by leading his army to help Dáin and his forces in their fight against Azog.
2) His final fight with Azog

Thorin has fought Azog several times, with the results sometimes being a win and sometimes inconclusive. The battle of the five armies in The Hobbit last film, was the last time that the enemies came face to face. They both fight an intense duel against each other in the frozen waterfall.
Azog falls into the water but resurfaces and impales Thorin’s foot, and after emerging from the water, stabs at Thorin’s chest. However, Thorin doesn’t go down alone, as his last attack on Azog turns brutal as he impales him with his sword and instantly kills him.
1) Thorin’s farewell

Thorin’s death is one of the most emotional moments from The Hobbit trilogy. The moments show how his character grew in the three films and also depict how far his friendship with Bilbo had come. He shared his last moments with Bilbo when the hobbit came to rescue him, but had to say goodbye.
Thorin asked him to forgive him for making him go through this dangerous journey with him, to which the hobbit replied that it was worth it. Each and every dangerous situation that he shared with Thorin was worth it. The last moment they shared was a crucial moment in their friendship, which began with disdain, and later also with one of them even trying to kill the other, and at last sharing a tender moment asking forgiveness and parting on good terms.
