Marvel comics has introduced a ton of superheroes and interesting characters over its long publication history. While many of them have found a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and have made the transition from the pages of the comic to the live-action version on screen, there are still plenty of heroes that have yet to be adapted for shows and movies. Therefore, here is a list of 8 Marvel comics heroes that should make an appearance in the MCU and shake things up a bit.

Spider-Woman, Hyperion, and other Marvel comics heroes that need to be in the MCU

1. Black Cat

Black Cat is an interesting Marvel comics heroine. She first appeared in 1979 as an adversary to the superhero Spider-Man. However, she later becomes his on and off love interest and even becomes his ally. Black Cat is the alter ego of Felicia Sara Hardy, who is the daughter of a famous cat burglar. Trained in martial arts and acrobatics, the sleek heroine could definitely shake up the MCU with her appearance and even bring fresh energy into the Spider-Man franchise. While there have been some rumors that Black Cat could make an appearance in the MCU through Spider-Man: Brand New Day, all of it is still in the speculation stage. However, whenever Black Cat shows up in the MCU, it would be an interesting addition. While Black Cat has not made a live-action appearance till now, in the comics, her role continues to expand from a thief to a hero. Therefore, it is high time that the MCU brings Black Cat into the live-action universe as the character deserves a plot of her own.

2. Squirrel Girl

Squirrel Girl is another character from the Marvel comics who needs to be introduced in the MCU. The character first appeared in 1991 and is the alter ego of Doreen Allene Green. Squirrel also has been a member of the Avengers and she therefore has an avenue for entrance into the MCU. The character was created for more lighthearted stories and the main ability of the heroine is that she can communicate with squirrels due to a genetic anomaly. Interestingly, Squirrel Girl was almost going to make her Marvel live-action appearance because the studio had filmed a pilot episode for New Warriors, which would feature Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl. However, the show was scrapped during production and therefore Squirrel Girl also lost a chance into the MCU. However, the character has had her own series and has a cult of her own. Therefore, the character should soon make her debut in Marvel. Squirrel Girl has a lot of potential that should not be wasted.

3. Blue Marvel

Another interesting characters in the Marvel comics that has not made his live-action debut in the MCU is the character of Blue Marvel. The character first appeared in 2008 and is therefore a new hero. Blue Marvel is the alter ego of Adam Bernard Brashear and Adam is a member of the Marine Corps who becomes a part of the scientific attempt to harness anti-matter. However, due to an unexpected explosion of the reactor, Adam becomes a stable antimatter reactor and gains superhuman abilities. Therefore, Blue Marvel has some of the strongest superhuman abilities in the MCU. While old comic superheroes like Iron Man have been a part of the MCU, it is time that newer superheroes like Blue Marvel come into the picture. As Blue Marvel is a black superhero, the MCU would be strengthened by diversity and could include themes about racism in its filmography. The character has been a part of Mighty Avengers and Ultimates, therefore, he could join the MCU in the future through these teams.

4. Hyperion

While DC has Superman, Marvel has Hyperion. The character was first introduced in 1969 and has several notable versions. Each version comes from a different dimension of the Marvel Multiverse and has both good and evil qualities within him. However, one of the heroic versions has appeared as the founding member of the alternate-reality Squadron Supreme. The character has also been a part of the Avengers in another version. Therefore, with a character as powerful as Superman, it is surprising that Hyperion has not made his live-action debut yet in the MCU. Hyperion leads the Squadron Supreme in one of his versions that is a team of heroes from an alternate reality that lands on Earth-616. Hyperion and his team would therefore be an interesting addition to the MCU’s focus on the multiverse. Another version of Hyperion named Marcus Milton, joined the Avengers and was a multiversal Eternal. He found friendship in Thor, who understood Hyperion’s incredible powers. Therefore, the superhero has many avenues to enter the MCU.

5. Beta Ray Bill

Beta Ray Bill first appeared in 1983 and is the first character outside the Norse pantheon to be worthy of wielding Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. The character was introduced as a surprise and was meant to be a monster who turns out to be a great hero. He is also an alien who comes from the Korbinite race. Therefore, the character has immense potential to be a part of the MCU. Interestingly, Beta Ray Bill was teased in the MCU during a very small cameo in Thor: Ragnarok. However, only his sculpture appears in the movie. It is high time therefore, that the character makes a physical appearance in the MCU and especially in the Thor movies since he is an important character. Not only does Beta Ray Bill become a noble alien and lift Thor’s hammer, he also wins the respect of Thor as a colleague and as a friend. No wonder then, that the character is in the Thor Corps. In the comics, Beta Ray Bill’s appearance proves that even monsters can transform and heroism can happen from the most unexpected people as well. Therefore, Beta Ray Bill, needs to be a part of the MCU canon.

6. Nova

The alter ego of Richard Rider, Nova, is a member of the intergalactic police force called the Nova Corps. The Marvel character was introduced in 1966 and was known as the Star. Nova is an interesting superhero as he stands on the side of law enforcement. He has access to the Nova Force and has superhuman abilities like enhanced strength, flight, and resistance to injury. Therefore, Nova could be an interesting addition to the MCU. While the Nova Corps has appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, the MCU is yet to give a live-action debut to Nova, or Richard Rider. Even though Nova’s name has been teased, it is surprising that the character has still to make a physical appearance. Nova needs to be in the MCU because he is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe and has been a frontman for the Guardians of the Galaxy, even saving the world during the Annihilation event. While the character has several versions in the comics, it would be great to see the Richard Rider version on screen. There have been plans to start a television show based on Nova in the past, but it has never come to fruition. Therefore, the character needs to have an MCU debut soon.

7. Spider-Woman

Spider-Man has been one of the most successful superhero franchises in the MCU. Therefore it is time that the Spider-Verse is expanded and Spider-Woman is brought into the picture. First appearing in 1977, Spider-Woman is the alter ego of Jessica Drew, who gains her powers differently from the rest of the Spider-Family. Her mother was struck by a beam of radiation that was laced with the DNA of spiders and Jessica was therefore born with superhuman abilities and soon became Spider-Woman. The character is important as she has worked as a super-spy with the SHIELD. The fact that she is so different from other spider-based heroes is what makes her an interesting addition to the Spider-Man franchise. Not only could she enter the MCU through her connection with Spider-Man, but she could also be a part of SHIELD and even of HYDRA, who had tried to brainwash her once into joining them. Spider-Woman therefore has multiple entry points to come into the MCU and she needs to be a part of the movies as her addition could set Spider-Man onto a whole new path.

8. Franklin Richards

Franklin Richards is a supporting character in Fantastic Four and is a child superhero. First appearing in 1968, the Marvel character has immense powers. He can manipulate reality and has more powers than most Omega level mutants. The son of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, Franklin is the older brother of Valeria Richards. The character is also known by the name of Powerhouse. The character would be an interesting addition to the MCU. While Fantastic Four is about to come and Reed Richards and Susan Storm will be seen in the movie, it will be a surprise to see their soon, Franklin, in the movie. It is time that the MCU has a child superhero as well and as Franklin has mighty powers, it is only fitting that he gets a chance to be a part of the MCU.
