9 movies to watch as you gear up for Marvel Phase Six

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is moving to Phase Six with new movies and shows scheduled to release soon and, if we want to be prepared for all the excitement, we cannot ignore the movies released in Phase Five of the MCU, besides a few of Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU).

The films released by Marvel Studios — such as the third of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and The Marvels — now make way for what will hopefully be an exciting Phase Six of the MCU.

In this article, we have listed nine movies that you should watch before hopping on for the Phase Six ride, which is slated to begin with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025.

9) Kraven the Hunter

Released on December 13, 2024, Kraven the Hunter focuses on the story of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Sergei Kravinoff, who abandons his father and travels to Russia, to a sanctuary owned by his late mother.

Becoming a vigilante named Kraven, he begins hunting down and killing criminals. His new goal takes him to several places around Europe, where he faces many challenges and encounters his father, whom he left 16 years ago when he went to Russia.


8) LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition is a TV special that aired on October 18, 2024, and was loved by Marvel fans. The film by Marvel Studios revolves around an inept superhero fan named Dennis, who is known for inadvertently causing chaos around him due to his clumsy nature.

In this flick, we see Dennis being the only hope to save the Avengers and the world from a supervillain who wants to destroy the Earth.


7) The Marvels

In The Marvels, we see Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel team up with two more superheroes, Kamala Khan, known as Ms. Marvel, and Monica Rambeau, in a bid to stop Zawe Ashton's Dar-Benn, who is the new leader of the Kree, causing a quantum entanglement that could hamper the timelines.

Dar-Benn wants to restore her planet that is destroyed after Larson’s Carol Danvers demolished their AI, called Supreme Intelligence. Using the quantum Band that Kamala has, the trio tries to stop Zawe Ashton’s Dar-Benn from further causing problems in the multiverse.


6) Venom: The Last Dance

In the 2024 film, Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and Venom face new challenges, such as a Xenophage tracking them.

In the film, it is revealed that Xenophages are sent by the creator of symbiotes, Knull, to fetch a codex that could free him from his captivity. The codex that the Xenophage was tracking was made when Venom resurrected Eddie. In the film, Eddie and Venom face more perilous situations, which could destroy either.


5) Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Phase Five of Marvel commenced with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film focuses on the events that take place in Scott Lang’s life after the Avengers defeat Thanos in the battle.

However, a new problem arises as the Langs and Hope’s family find themselves in the quantum realm after Cassie uses her newly built device to make contact with the realm. They are introduced to a new threat, Kang, who now rules the realm, as they try to travel back to their world.


4) Deadpool & Wolverine

Fans were waiting eagerly for this Deadpool film for a while, and it was finally released in 2024. In the movie, Ryan Reynolds’s Wade Wilson resurrects a variant of Hugh Jackman’s Logan after failing to resurrect the original one to save his timeline.

However, they are sent to the Void by TVA agent, Paradox. The film depicts the events that take place in the Void and their eventual escape, and how they later save Wade’s universe, Earth-10005. The movie is a must-watch for fans who love the Jakcman-Reynolds duo.


3) Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The final Guardians of the Galaxy film is an emotional one, as the band of misfits embark on a quest to save their friend Rocket’s life. Rocket is not able to recover after being wounded due to a pre-embedded kill switch.

The team travels to counter-earth to retrieve the code that might save Rocket. The movie also gives us a glimpse of Rocket’s past when he was experimented on by Orgocorp’s leader, the High Evolutionary.


2) Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Although it is not released under Marvel’s Phase Five, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is one of the films that you should not miss.

It revolves around Miles Morales’ journey to different timelines and encountering the Spider-People society, the leader of whom reveals to Miles about the canon events that led to them becoming Spider-People. Miles also finds out that because he became Spider-Man, Earth-42 does not have a Spider-Man. In the end, Miles realises that he has traveled to Earth-42 and not his home while fleeing from the Spdier-Society people.


1) Captain America: Brave New World

The newest Marvel movie released this year, Captain America: Brave New World, revolves around Sam Wilson’s doubts about taking on the role of Captain America, as he does not have superpowers like the former Captain America.

In the Marvel film, Anthony Mackie’s Wilson finds himself in an international entanglement where the Americans and the Japanese are at the crossroads over the decision to use a newfound metal called adamantium. The film also gives us a glimpse of Wilson forming a new team of Avengers for upcoming threats that Samuel Sterns warns him of.
