Hot news about a hot package called Fortune is coming from The Hollywood Reporter, which tells us that the project is bringing Reacher star Alan Ritchson together again with Jerry Bruckheimer after they last collaborated on Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. There aren’t many details about Fortune’s story, other than that it’s an adventure movie and described as “Memento meets Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
Neil Widener and Gavin James, who were co-writers of A Minecraft Movie alongside Chris Bowman, Hubbel Palmer, and Chris Galletta, are onboard with the rest of the crew, though they have yet to sign a deal for Fortune. That Minecraft adaptation is currently the number one movie at the domestic box office for 2025. Globally, the video game-based film has nearly made a billion dollars in revenue.
As for Gavin James, he has written one film called Footsteps, which currently holds an IMDb rating of 8.5. He also co-produced it alongside Taylor Cohen, Flo Speakman, and others. Neil Widener, on the other hand, wrote and directed the 2004 film Subdivision, Colorado, which currently holds a 6.5-star rating on IMDb.
The two writers are also collaborating on a couple of projects together—San Andreas 2 and an untitled Beyblade project with Paramount.
Skydance, the studio picking up Fortune, hasn’t made this official yet as negotiations are still ongoing. The company has also produced Reacher and is involved with franchises like Terminator, Transformers, Mission: Impossible, and more. Interestingly, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning opens in the US today.
A brief look at some of Alan Ritchson's projects

Reacher will, of course, be at the top of the list, as he brought the titular character from Jim Grant’s Jack Reacher universe to life. The character was previously portrayed by Tom Cruise in the film adaptations. The show has been well received by both critics and audiences, with a 92% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer and 91% on the Audience Score.
Before becoming the iconic Reacher, Ritchson played Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, in DC’s Smallville. Recently, he expressed interest in playing Batman in future DC films. He also appeared in one of the Hunger Games films, where his character met a quick end at the hands of Katniss Everdeen (though his death scene was originally written differently).
The actor recently ventured into film direction with the 2021 action-comedy Dark Web: Cicada 3301. It was based on a real-life incident that occurred between 2012 and 2014, when a series of puzzles appeared online and sparked global intrigue. The puzzles were rumored to be part of a recruitment effort for highly intelligent individuals, though their true origin remains unknown.
Ritchson also voiced Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) and its sequel.
Looking ahead, he’s involved in a number of upcoming films including The Man with the Bag, Playdate, Motor City, War Machine, Runner, and—if the deal closes—Fortune as well.
