Upon the announcement, Jim Demanakos shared a statement, which said,

What will the new 'Gilmore Girls' documentary be about?

Gilmore Girls, the comedy-drama show created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, began on The WB and ran for seven seasons, and then the final season aired on the CW. It starred Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, a mother and a daughter living in the charming town of Stars Hollow.
With the upcoming documentary, the Gilmore Girls fans will get a chance to make another detour through Stars Hollow to meet all the people who turned it into a charming place. The doc-film will feature interviews with Kelly Bishop, Chad Michael Murray, and Jared Padalecki, who played Emily Gilmore, Tristin Dugray, and Dean Forester, respectively.
They will be joined by a few other names from the cast, which includes Keiko Agena (who played Lane Kim), Emily Kuroda (who played Mrs. Kim), Kathleen Wilhoite (who played Liz Danes), Liz Torres (who played Miss Patty), Matt Jones (who played Morgan), Sally Struthers (who played Babette Dell), and Rose Abdoo (who played Gypsy).
Director Meghna Balakumar offered some insights into the team's research for the documentary and how it will come about in the final film. According to THR, here's what her statement said,
“The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight. We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more."
She further added,
"And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full, and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment.”
Per THR, the Gilmore Girls documentary will also feature interviews with director Jamie Babbit, casting directors Jami Rudofsky and Mara Casey, and writer and producer Stan Zimmerman.
Kevin T. Porter from the Gilmore Guys podcast will also offer his outlook on Gilmore Girls, the show.
