Netflix returns with another crime drama based on a true story. Titled A Widow's Game (La viuda negra), the film is inspired by the real-life case of the “Black Widow of Patraix." If you don't want the ending spoiled, you might want to read the actual report after watching the film. However, as the title suggests, it revolves around a recently widowed woman.

A Widow's Game is directed by Carlos Sedes. He is known for his directorial work on Netflix projects like The Lady's Companion, Cable Girls, and The Asunta Case. His other directorial credits include Land of Women, Fariña, Velvet Desaparecida, and A vida por diante.

The show comes from the creators behind the team of Netflix's The Asunta Case. The cast of A Widow's Game is led by Ivana Baquero, who made her breakthrough in Guillermo del Toro's classic dark fantasy flick Pan's Labyrinth (2006). In addition to Baquero, Carmen Machi, and Tristán Ulloa make up the central cast.

This Spanish film will be released on May 30, 2025, and will be available to stream on Netflix to global users.
