Alfie Wise, comedic actor and Burt Reynolds’ frequent co-star, dies at 82

Alfie Wise, a seasoned Hollywood actor, has passed away at the age of 82. An exclusive report by TMZ states that Wise died on July 22, 2025, at the Thomas H. Corey Veteran Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Wise was known for starring in 80s action movies like The Cannonball Run and Stroker Ace alongside Burt Reynolds. Wise was a real estate agent and worked with the Donohue Real Estate company before he passed away.

The company mourned his loss in a Facebook post on July 30, 2025:

"We are deeply saddened to share that our agent, Alfie Wise, has passed. Whenever there was a company get-together, Alfie was always there, smiling and chatting with everyone… We will greatly miss Alfie's sense of humor, positive attitude, and charming personality.”

Wise’s longtime fiancée Stephanie Bliss confirmed his death to TMZ, adding that the late actor was down with a bacterial infection some months ago, got hospitalized, recovered and landed in the hospital again. He reportedly stayed for about a month in the hospital before he passed away.

Alfie Wise was Burt Reynolds’s go-to sidekick for years and landed roles in the movies like The Longest Yard, The Cannonball Run and Stroker Ace. His fiancée revealed to TMZ that the infection that killed the former actor was a regular one and that his age was a contributing factor to his death.

The Pennsylvania-born actor served in the US Navy before venturing into acting. His debut role was Call Her Mom. He began collaborating with Reynolds, who passed away in 2018 aged 82, and shot 10 movies with him.

The actor also recently starred in the CBBC sitcom S Club 7. Lori Wyman, the casting director for the series, made an Instagram tribute for the departed actor:

"Sad to have heard my Pal Alfie Wise passed away. We worked together on BL Stryker and S Club 7! Funny, talented guy! He will be missed!!"
