James Cameron isn't stopping with his Avatar franchise. There is a lot to come after that, which, of course, includes the Avatar saga. Don't use the term 'sequels,' as the director likes to call it a two-part saga, the first of which will conclude with Fire and Ash, leaving the second one to come in parts in 2029 and 2031.

In the years to come, he is set to direct five films and write a couple, which we will see in this list in a few seconds. Apart from three of his movies. we don't have a release schedule for the rest as of this writing. However, we can expect some mind-blowing stuff in them.

As of this writing, James Cameron is the second-highest-grossing director in the world, with his projects grossing $8.7 billion collectively, only behind the filmmaking veteran Steven Spielberg, whose movies have grossed over $10 billion.

Avatar: Fire and Ash

Cameron's next project will conclude the first saga of two in his popular sci-fi franchise, bringing a new threat to Pandora as the war rages. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and more will return in the film, with Oona Chaplin being a new addition to the story as the leader of the Ash People.

Avatar 4

This will be a follow-up to Fire and Ash, and apart from the film's release date, which is scheduled for December 21, 2029, there is only a little detail available on the project. Co-producer has said that a third of the movie has been filmed to cover the aging of child actors.

Avatar 5

Like the fourth film in the series, little is known about the movie. However, it does have a potential title, which might be The Quest for Eywa. Additionally, the film is said to explore Earth, and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) could be visiting the planet in the final chapter of the saga. As of this writing, it is scheduled for a release on December 19, 2031.

The Devils

James Cameron will potentially be working on a project called The Devils, an adaptation of Joe Abercrombie's bestselling book of the same name. Regarding this project, the filmmaker said:

"I can’t wait to dig into this as I wind down on Avatar: Fire and Ash. It will be a joyful new challenge for me to bring these indelible characters to life."

There's no release date for the movie as of now.

Ghosts of Hiroshima

This is something of a passion project for the director. Not just that, it is his deathbed vow to the remaining survivors of the deadly Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

Alita: Battle Angel 2

The sequel to the 2019 cyberpunk film directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by James Cameron is on the cards too. Though at first, it felt like the project wouldn't happen following Disney's acquisition of 20th Century Fox. But then these two took a virtual blood oath to make the sequel.

Terminator 7

Lastly, Cameron has already begun working on the script of the seventh Terminator film, though he has made some notes about it, which, as he explained to Gizmodo in an interview, is how he begins all his scripts.
