The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has finally found its Drusilla Sickle and Magno Stift. Glenn Close is all set to play Drusilla Sickle, the cruel escort of District 12 Tributes, while Billy Porter will star as Magno Stift, her estranged husband who also serves as the disillusioned designer to the Tributes.
Close and Porter join a list of big names from Hollywood who have already joined the cast for this project, which is considered to be one of the most anticipated films in the coming years. The excitement has been at its peak about the new cast, which will also include the younger versions of the characters from the previous film trilogy, which starred Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
The events in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping will take place 24 years before the Jennifer Lawrence starrer in Panem. It will begin with the morning of the Second Quarter Quell, the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games. Haymitch Abernathy will be the protagonist for this latest film adaptation, which will share its title with Suzanne Collins's 2025 dystopian fiction novel.
Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are producing this project for Color Space, and Cameron MacConomy is serving as an executive producer.
More details on the new casting of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping

Glenn Close is an eight-time Oscar-nominated actress, known for her performances in 101 Dalmatians (1996), Dangerous Liaisons (1988), Fatal Attraction (1987), Albert Nobbs (2011), and more. She was most recently a part of Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz's action thriller Back in Action. Speaking about her casting, Color Space's Nina Jacobson said,
“Glenn Close is a dream Drusilla. She brings so much of her intellect and imagination to each role, creating characters who are unforgettable and iconic. I think Glenn and Francis will have a ball bringing Drusilla from the page to the screen.”
Close's Hunger Games co-star Billy Porter is a Tony and Emmy-award-winning star of shows like Pose and American Horror Story, and films like Cinderella (2021) and Our Son (2023).
About Porter's casting, Jacobson said,
“Billy is one of those rare performers who can dazzle and devastate in equal measure on stage and screen. He made an indelible impression on me when we worked together on Pose, both as an actor and a human being. Casting this show has felt like winning the lottery every time one of our idols said yes to us. To be able to announce Glenn Close and Billy Porter together is an embarrassment of riches that we can all celebrate.”
