"All the speculation and the gossip.. ended it": Kyle Richards breaks silence about first romance after Mauricio Umansky separation

Kyle Richards has spoken about her first romance post-separation from Mauricio Umansky.

While speaking during the December 11 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, the 56-year-old star revealed that after she separated from Umansky, she dated someone for whom she “fell hard.” She said:

“When I’m in love with somebody, I want to share that. I’m an open person like that. That doesn’t mean the person I’m with feels the same way. All the speculation and the gossip and the talking is ultimately what ended it. I could’ve weathered the storm, but this is not for everyone.”

Richards previously sparked dating rumors with singer Morgan Wade, which arose from their close friendship. Richards also appeared in Wade’s 2023 music video, Fall in Love with Me. However, both of them repeatedly insisted it's a platonic friendship. Richards told the paparazzi that she and Wade are “just friends” and that it is not just him she has matching tattoos with.

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky shared a high-profile marriage that lasted nearly three decades. Today, they maintain an amicable relationship after their separation as they continue to explore their lives separately.

The former couple met in 1994 at Bar One, a West Hollywood nightclub later renamed Bootsy Bellows. In an interview with The Knot, Kyle Richards revealed that Umansky initially thought she was Demi Moore’s sister and gathered the courage to come over and say hello.

Before her marriage to Umansky, Richards was married to businessman Guraish Aldjufrie, with whom he shares a daughter, Farrah Brittany Aldjufrie. They were married from 1988 to 1992. She gave birth to Farrah when she was only 19. She is now a real estate agent at The Agency.

Kyle Richards and Umansky got engaged the same year they met when the Mexican-American real estate broker proposed to the reality TV star at Shutters restaurant in Santa Monica, California. Recalling the moment, she told The Knot:

“I was just so happy and excited—it was a dream for me. The moment we started dating, I just felt like he was the one.”

After dating for two years, they got married in January 1996. At the time of their marriage, Kyle Richards was pregnant with her second daughter and her first child with Umansky. She told The Knot:

“The wedding was originally going to be, I believe, in April, and then we moved it up to January so my dress would still fit because I was pregnant.”

They welcomed their daughter, Alexia in June 1996. In January 2000, they became parents to their daughter, Sophia Umansky. Eight years later, they were blessed with their third daughter, Portia.

Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky separated in 2023 after 27 years of marriage with Kyle Richards initiating the split. In July 2023, they released a joint statement shutting down speculation of divorce but admitting going through a troubled phase in their marriage.

The statement read:

“Yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously. There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. ... While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative.”

Despite their separation, they continue to be legally married as no divorce papers have been filed yet.
