Former American football wide receiver Antonio Brown has been extradited from the Middle East to the United States to stand trial for the shooting accident that happened during a boxing event organised by Adin Ross in Miami in early 2025. According to a statement by the Miami police, Antonio Brown was apprehended after they served a collaborative arrest warrant with the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office and U.S. Marshals Service.

The former football star was arrested in Dubai, UAE. According to reports, he is currently booked into the Essex County Jail in New Jersey but would soon be moved to the Miami-Dade County Jail.

The spokesperson of the Miami Police, Michael Vega, praises the hard work of the officers who worked to arrest Brown.

“This is just another example of the relentless work and dedication of Miami Police Detectives, working closely with Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, and U.S. Marshals to identify and arrest those who commit crimes in the City of Miami.”

More details on Antonio Brown’s legal troubles

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, Antonio Brown was arrested by the Miami police and is charged with attempted murder. Brown’s troubles with the law began on May 16, 2025, when Antonio got into a fistfight with a group of people. The wide receiver allegedly shot Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu with a black handgun after a long pursuit.

Nantambu claimed that the shot grazed his neck and named Brown as the individual who shot him. However, Antonio stated his actions were a result of self-defence, claiming several people jumped him in an attempted robbery.

He tweeted on X:

“I was jumped by multiple people who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”

Antonio was arrested but was released shortly after. In June, a month after the incident, an official warrant was issued for the former NFA player’s arrest.

“Mr. Brown appears to retrieve a black firearm from the right hip area. Cellphone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing toward Mr. Nantambu on the outside sidewalk. The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu,” the warrant stated.

Antonio Brown didn't turn himself in and disappeared until the authorities arrested him in Dubai in November.
