Are Maddie & Tae married? All we know of the country duo’s family as they part ways after 15 years

Country music duo Maddie & Tae have gone their separate ways after 15 years of partnership. This is because Taylor “Tae” Dye Kerr wants to focus on motherhood, while Maddie Marlow Font wishes to start a solo career.

Maddie & Tae exclusively confirmed their split to PEOPLE during a December 2025 interview. Maddie said:

“We’re leaving this so open-ended because, you know, we might make another record one day. We might go do some tour dates one day. But just in this season, it doesn't feel aligned for us to do it together.”

Tae, in turn, said, “Absolutely,” seemingly agreeing with her partner. She added:

“It's been such a hard, hard — honestly, heartbreaking — decision. This was the only dream I've ever had since I exited the womb. I had a particular vision of creating music and singing. When we met at 15, that's what we set out to do, and we're both just so grateful that we've had the journey that we've had. This career has been everything we've ever wanted.”

However, they are choosing to stay in each other’s lives in a personal capacity.

Notably, Maddie & Tae are married to Jonah Font and Josh Kerr, respectively.

“Even though we’re not gonna go on this journey as Maddie & Tae together, we’re still walking and doing life together outside of it. And I think I’m really excited to just be best friends and nurture our friendship and not have to worry as much about the work and still get to raise our babies together. None of that changes,” Font stated.

All about Maddie & Tae’s respective families

Maddie Marlow dated her high school sweetheart Jonah Font for eight years before tying the knot at The Barn at Sycamore Farms in Arrington, Tennessee, on November 22, 2019.

Later, during a December 4 sit-down with PEOPLE, Maddie shared:

"We both can’t hold back happy tears. It’s been eight years of knowing this was our goal and the fact that it’s finally here is so exciting and very emotional."

The Sugar Land, Texas native added:

"It's all fun with him. I'm looking forward to more adventures, more memories and our love to just keep growing stronger and stronger. We definitely want to have kids one day, but for now, we are just going to enjoy each other and keep making amazing memories."

About her longtime romance, Maddie Marlow Font mentioned that her husband gave her a “promise ring” when she was 17 and relocating to Nashville. Jonah Font is a year older than her and met Maddie when she was a sophomore.

She also spoke about her engagement ring, noting that the diamond in the center was her mother’s and had been given to her by her father 26 years ago.

Tae Kerr attended her bandmate’s wedding as one of the bridesmaids and even had her name listed as a witness on the marriage certificate. Maddie’s younger sister Camy acted as the maid of honor, while Jonah’s eldest brother Justin was one of the groomsmen. Both delivered speeches at the wedding.

Jonah Font is now a stay-at-home husband and father to their son Forrest, who was born in September 2023 and is now two.

As for Tae Kerr, she began dating songwriter and producer Josh Kerr in 2018 and got engaged the following year in September. Back then, she declared in an Instagram post that after their upcoming wedding, they wanted to live in Franklin, Tennessee. She also shared her excitement about being engaged to the “man of my dreams.”

Subsequently, Maddie & Tae’s Tae Kerr also shared glimpses from her bachelorette party and wedding invitations.

On February 21, 2020, the couple walked down the aisle in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Ada, Oklahoma, native shares two children with her husband of five years, daughter Leighton, 3, and son Chapel, 1.

Meanwhile, Josh Kerr’s songwriting credits include Dylan Scott’s hit single My Girl and Kelsea Ballerini’s songs, Love Me Like You Mean It and Dibs.

During their recent revelation, Maddie & Tae told PEOPLE that it has been hard “sitting on this secret for months,” referring to their decision to professionally part ways.

Marlow Font also mentioned that sometime last year, she realized that it was becoming difficult for Kerr to stay away from her family, especially during tours. It was even channelled into the song, Chasing Babies & Raising Dreams from their album, Love & Light.

Later, in September 2025, they shared a heartfelt telephonic conversation and decided to pause their partnership and soon informed the management. Font stated in this regard:

“I couldn’t imagine not having my family. Both of us couldn’t imagine not choosing that. Babies in your family — there’s nothing that tops it. … Our goal was never to be the biggest stars in the world. Our goal was to make music that mattered and impacted people, and we accomplished that…”

She also mentioned choosing to charter the working mom life and venturing into other genres of music other than country, including R&B, soul, and gospel music.

Kerr added that success always meant being able to balance a healthy home life and career. However, now, she needs to choose her family and become the “best wife and mother and homemaker.” However, Tae is looking forward to making guest appearances in the studio for Maddie and contributing to her husband’s projects.

For those unaware, Maddie & Tae met through their vocal coach in Dallas, Texas, in 2010, when they were both 15. Since then, they have been together and have given hits, including Girl in a Country Song and Die From a Broken Heart.

Maddie & Tae will appear together in their final tour in mid-June 2026. However, they refuse to call it a “farewell tour” or this hiatus a “breakup” as that was far too “dramatic” for them.

Instead, Maddie & Tae want to be remembered as strong, independent, loving women who were “embarking on separate journeys” but were still very much “together.”
