16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis is currently mourning the death of her son, Weston Gosa Jr., who passed away at the age of 16 on June 2, 2025.

She announced the news in a Facebook post. Taking to the social media platform, she wrote:

“This is so hard to write. My beautiful son, Weston, has passed away. He was only 16 years old. Life is so cruel and unfair. I just don’t understand. Oh my baby is gone and I don't know what to do with myself. He was so perfect. This is really my worst nightmare come true.”

Whitney Purvis gained recognition after she appeared on the famous MTV reality show in 2009, along with her then-boyfriend Weston Gosa. Gosa and Purvis are currently not together, and he is now married to Amy Gosa, who also shared details about her stepson’s death on her social media account.

According to the New York Post, Gosa mentioned that Gosa Jr. had been battling several medical conditions, including diabetes. She said that when they found that he was unresponsive in the morning, he was immediately rushed to the hospital in Gordon County, where he was declared dead.

Whitney Purvis and Weston Gosa became familiar faces in 2009 when they featured together during the first season of the famous MTV show, 16 and Pregnant. They together welcomed their first son, Weston Owen Gosa Jr, on April 2, 2009.

According to a report in Fandom, it was discovered that their son had a genetic disorder called alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency. The show continued to show Purvis’ struggles following the birth of her son.

Whitney Purvis briefly separated from Gosa in 2011, but they rekindled and she gave birth to their second son, River Blake, in 2014 before they separated again. As per The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, in 2015, Purvis broke into her baby daddy’s house and attacked him with a broom.

After the incident, she was arrested on two charges — criminal trespass and aggravated assault. The report further mentioned that in March 2012, Purvis was arrested for stealing a pregnancy test kit at Walmart. She and her then-boyfriend, Gosa, were also arrested for criminal trespassing when they reportedly smashed someone’s laptop and mobile phone.

Since then, Purvis has been facing legal trouble, and in 2017, she lost custody of her two sons as well. It ultimately went to Weston Gosa. According to the U.S. Sun, Purvis was granted visitation rights and was ordered to pay $353 in monthly child support to Weston, however, she failed to do so.
