Pippa Scott, an American actress, passed away on May 22, as confirmed by her daughter Miranda Tollman to The Hollywood Reporter. She was active in the 1950s, 1980s, and later during the 2010s. Congenital heart failure is reported to be the cause of her death. Overall, she worked in 13 feature films and 14 TV shows.
She is survived by her daughters Miranda and Jessica, as well as five grandchildren.
Pippa began her career with a Broadway debut in Child of Fortune in 1956, and in the same year, she appeared in John Ford's The Searchers. There, she played Lucy Edwards, who is one of the abducted victims.
Besides acting, she also ventured into writing and directing later in her career, notably with King Leopold’s Gold.
Scott was married to American film and television producer Lee Rich and had two children with him before their divorce. Lee died in 2012, but they remained friends until his passing.

After The Searchers, Scott appeared in As Young as We Are (1958), playing a teacher who is abducted again—this time by one of her students who is infatuated with her. Other than her, Robert Harland, Ty Hardin, Ellen Corby, and more were in the film.
In 1958, she appeared as Pegeen Ryan in Auntie Mame. In the film, she later appears as Mame’s (Rosalind Russell) new secretary and eventually marries Patrick, who is portrayed by Jan Handzlik as a young man and Roger Smith as an older version.
Pippa Scott then appeared in many other films, which include My Six Loves (1963), Quick, Let's Get Married (1964), For Pete's Sake (1966), and more. During the 1970s and 80s, she appeared in Cold Turkey and The Sound of Murder, after which she largely stepped away from acting.

Apart from the entertainment industry, the actress was also a human rights activist. In his book, Justice in the Balkans: Prosecuting War Crimes in the Hague Tribunal, John L. Hagan notes,
"By the 1990s, Scott had become involved in human rights work and through Linden Productions in Los Angeles volunteered to create a video archive for the commission."
The commission referred to here is the Commission of Experts established under United Nations Security Council Resolution 780.
Pippa Scott was not the only notable figure to pass away this year. Top Gun star Val Kilmer died at the age of 65 on April 1, 2025.
