Avatar: Fire and Ash is an upcoming chapter in James Cameron's epic sci-fi film series. The franchise began over a decade ago in 2009, with Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington as the central duo of Neytiri and Jake. Eventually, in 2022, we received a sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, where the couple embarked on a journey to a new home on Pandora.
The sequel followed Neytiri and Jake, hoping to lead a new and peaceful life while moving away from their birthplace. Since the tragic climax of this sequel, viewers have been eager to learn what happens to the family in the future. From what we know so far, they will need to contend with bigger challenges while still facing some older foes as they seek peace in Avatar: Fire and Ash.
It's the start of a new life for the Sullys, and the fans have been eager to find out more details about the film. Until now, the studio has shared a few stills and character portraits from the film. They offer a brief idea of how Neytiri, Spider, and a set of new Na'vi characters will look in the film. However, it doesn't offer a picture, which leads us to the question: When will the trailer be out?
When will the Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer be released?
20th Century Studios, who serve as a co-producer and distributor for Avatar: Fire and Ash, reportedly shared the first marketing footage from the film during the 2025 CinemaCon. It offered a brief idea of what Neytiri and Jake will be up against in the new movie.
There's no concrete update on when the trailer will be out. However, some reports suggest that it will be played right before The Fantastic Four: First Steps, scheduled for a theatrical release on July 21.
According to a detailed description shared by a ScreenRant reporter who attended the event, the CinemaCon footage reveals a clash between different clans on Pandora. The Sullys continue to let go of the tragedies of their past. Jake seemingly finds himself in trouble with the humans, who reportedly escort him with them.
Screenrant's description ends up sharing a few details about The Ash People, who will be introduced in the upcoming movie. Here's what it says:
"The Ash People have a grayer complexion but are clearly still Na'vi in their design, and wear a black stripe across their eyes. They use bow and arrows and seemingly have the ability to hold fire on their bodies, as one of the Ash People ignites their fingers over a candle in a quick scene. The leader of the Ash People, Varang, remarks, "Your goddess has no dominion here," as the footage concludes."
Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, and Kate Winslet are set to reprise their roles in the new film. They will reportedly be joined by a cast of Oona Chaplin, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, Jemaine Clement, Cliff Curtis, and Jack Champion, among others.
Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled for release on December 19, 2025.
